your choice
i really don't care

most quits are for publicity stunts. However, for every real quit about 5 people join!

Many reasons. Trolls. Getting too experienced. I support those that quit because they need to move on to bigger things, but there is no point in quitting cause of the trolls.

there are hardly any "experienced trolls" here, if any
but we've got plenty of losers like [removed by moderator - please don't attack other Scratch users] who think it's cool to "troll" and be all open about it, though in actuality they aren't trolling in the slightest

A lot of people join Scratch when they're pretty young (I was 11/12), and spend a few years on here, learning programming basics. After a while, some people might decide to move on to new programming languages, more advanced and complicated ones, that you can do more with. Some might just feel they've learnt enough. But others, like for me, as you get older (I'm almost 17, now! I've got a zimmer frame and everything!
) you just get less and less free time, and more and more things to do - and as much as you might want to, you just don't really get much time to go on Scratch. And after a while of not being very active on Scratch, you might come back and realise most of the old community you knew has moved on, and the new community -however awesome they are!- are more or less strangers to you, which just means you spend even less time on Scratch.
I wouldn't worry about "quitters", there's always going to be someone new to welcome, and some of the 'quitters' are just looking for attention, or want to see how many people would want them to stay. There's nothing wrong with wanting to say goodbye to old friends on Scratch, but I think it's better just to come on Scratch when you can, even if it's very rarely, than to "quit" completely.

I don't like it either, but it's other people's choice if they want to leave or not and we can't change that.

Yeah, there really aren't any real trollers. People are a bit too sensitive to amateur trollers, if trolling is considered a skill, which is isn't. I hate it when I get "trollers" (I shall mention no names, so I am not offending any users) on my projects. Since when did being a fail troller become "cool"?

I don't understand why everybody is flipping over quitting as ninety nine percent of the time it is a publicity stunt anyway.
Also, I saw a sign that said the world was going to end on the 21 of may. I just love how the end of the world makes people flip.
