Recipe Book: says how to make stuff, amazingly easy to craft - book + ink sac
Shelf: it's like a chest but you can see what's in it
TF2 Teleporter: teleporters with 99 frequencies
Dynamic Lights: Lava buckets, redstone, redstone torches, torches and glowstone make light when held or as a drop.
Biospheres: A terrain generation like super flat that makes load of glass domes, each one a different biome. Also small stone ones and linked by wood bridges.

No, it may not be open source, but there's MCP. And also an official mod API (which doesn't mean all or most of the source code, but some of it) soon. Search "Minecraft Workbench API"

I thought the Bukkit team was officially absorbed into Mojang. That seems like the obvious solution, IMO. Kill off the official vanilla server software and make Bukkit the official server software. People can still create vanilla servers (bukkit with no plugins is essentially the same as normal vanilla) and then server owners wouldn't need to wait for Bukkit releases, only plugins.

Whats happening is that the Bukkit team is going to be recoding official minecraft server software and make it bukkit, but recoded, and that will be the official server.

New mob is likely to be the long-awaited pigman. If it's really Herobrine, I don't think I'll ever play Singleplayer again. Or use any mode besides Peaceful.
