and a new melon spawns in 15-30 minutes i think, so that means you could accrue hundreds of melons in a matter of minecraft weeks.

Pretty much, on Phoenix Survival I made a big farm for melons thinking they'd be slow growing to counteract their feedrate, 4 hours later and I had ran out of chests to put melon slices in.

I was adding on to your points, I didn't disagree with you anywhere in that sentence.

I need to make a huge wall around my base so I can have more room at night. I am working on making a music disc farm, but it will probably be pretty hard.
