Use iron or diamond picks. Stone is only for coal, iron, lapis lazuli and stone.

I have only found one dungeon evar.

I would probably find more if I wasn't a mining freak, and weren't afraid of caves.

Also, I would like to say one thing about ambiance.

It gets annoying. Sometimes it's just an innocent whistle, or a violin, but sometimes, it gets really scary. You hear roars and screams. But it does not mean anything but that there is an unlit area at least 10-20 blocks away from you. It doesn't mean anything like dungeons, or certain ores, or certain depths,  just a cave or unlit room.

What kind of trap are you making? I want to make one, but I don't know many good ones.

And if you don't want mobs spawning in your covered up craters and ambience playing, just set a torch in there or something. Creeper craters are usually small enough to only need one torch to light it up.

Stone is also for GOLD        

No, iron is for gold, you can't get gold with a stone pick.

I got on The Voxel Box server today...
It was so laggy, I had to get off.

I think lava appears WAAAAAAAAAY too frequently just above bedrock. I can't dig for 5 minutes without running into lava. ⌐_⌐ I'm turning it into natural lighting, and well, just a plain cool looking thing (by covering it with glass) so I won't get bored as I run through my mine.

After avoiding TONS of lava, I found 8 diamonds, though!

You can find cocoa beans, saddles, iron, redstone, wheat, bread, gunpowder, ect.

  I know that, but do you only find apples in a dungeon, not anywhere else.
