Scratch is a programming website, not a social networking one... just use Facebook.

What's the point of chatting?What do we need it for?If you need to work with someone or you want to start a collab,just use the forums.

Hey ErinSkye, chat rooms on the Scratch website have been suggested many times, but unfortunately, the suggestion has always been rejected because of moderating and security reasons - you may want to read Suggestions that have been resolved already to read more about the issue, as well as learn about other suggestions to avoid suggesting topics that have otherwise been met with "no".
As for photo albums: you can already do that - just use Scratch and your photos to program a slide show that everyone can see. 
Everything is better when you add a little cheddar, because when you have cheese your life is at ease
