No, a record label is basically an entity associated with the making of music recordings and videos, publicity, etc. And to sanddude: You probably won't get into one until your band has progressed a little and someone shows interest. In the meantime you can always upload the band's songs to Newgrounds, Youtube and other sites.

Don't the drums and bass keep the beat? Keyboard is usually just part of the melody, the most recognizable part of a song. But it usually doesn't keep the beat

Those are all pretty good. I also like Katie Perry. But you're right, they're not metal. More like emotive rock.
