Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Sorry I'm so behind, I only visit the forums around once a day or once every other day.  hmm  And I don't even view all the topics I'm in. Anyways.

What Daffy wants me to do is kinda confusing. I thought it was just the block/sprite or whatever, and the notes. Here, how about I just hover around making suggestions and give small scripts when you need it. Hehe  smile

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

@Daffy22: What good is a website if half the people who need to use it cannot access it? You need to think of others too. (lol like I am  lol  ) Of course sparks said it is up to you but think of the people who can't access it.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

If no one wants to I could. But I don't know too much about HTML. I know I can make a note you could insert but not all the block buttons.

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

I'm planning to write some tutorials explaning block syntax and soforth, but I reckon that the homepage can easily be updated by mods whenever something new comes up  smile

I think i'll start on the tutorial now. Also, if you could give me access to the area I would need to go, I can easily upload changes to the homepageHTML when I need to?

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Liking the favicon!

In searching, can you make the "choose which mod" checkbox rather than dropdown and the catagory checkbox rather than radio? As they're tag searches, we should be able to do it, and it will allow a better search result. Imagine if you wanted to browse all the catagories for a mod - you'd have to do a search per catagory!

Also, for the keyword search, I reckon if possible a radio option for either

O Display results that have ALL the keywords
O Display resluts that have ANY of the keywords

I think the keywords search would be very hard but I'll change radio to check box then  smile

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Thanks  smile  I didn't know keyword search would be hard  hmm  Cos I thoght the only things you can search are username, block type, catagory or mod anyway, so all that information would be already there for each block. But never mind if it's not going to work  smile

Can you get the "submit block to link to something rather than the blank screen?

maybe just a page saying "your block has been submitted" with  a Home link underneath?  smile

sprite download link. I didn't include that in the form or the temp upload script. The blocks in the library don't have a sprite download do they?  hmm

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Ok, I've loaded the file "understanding and applying smalltalk in blocks" to a public folder on my computer so you have a near-as live view of my progress on it (by refreshing every now and again). If something is wrong or unconventional, tell me, I'm new to smalltalk and all I know is what I've picked up working in the library and on Panther  smile
