What I think is that yes, a swear word filter (that allows "grapes"?  tongue ). When a new comment gets posted, it gets sent to that table to show, and the user sees something that says "Your comment will be reviewed." Then, when it gets the OK, it appears on the block's page.

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

I just tried it! That's really odd! I can't even think of a word that shouldn't be posted that contains the word grapes within it as a substring...

Start at the second letter...

Will there be a spam filter, or a time limit (like here)?

O.O

Anyways, yeah sparks. I thought about it later and realized that we would just use the message table. FAIL.  tongue

So when should we start?

There won't be a time limit or spam filter until one seems needed. In the same way, I can reduce the maximum character length of a post or remove deletion capabilities from users if it is abused.

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

@PF, start what? The commenting system is pretty much finished on my site so it won't take long at all for me to move it. You have access to the site11 site so add what you think should be added to it!

You may notice that the scratchr site has the scratch style to it's layout, are we going to apply this to site11 while we work there?

Oh, I didn't know you had done the moderating part yet.  tongue

Hmm, sure, if it won't take long. But if its going to take a lot of effort, its not needed. Of course, it shouldn't since its only a styling sheet.

Whatever you want.  wink

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

I've designed the commenting system on my site as a plugin. This means that all we need to do is change the colour scheme a little and let it deal with Scratch accounts rather than AG accounts from my site  smile

Very cool.  big_smile  I'm currently on a computer thata does not have php on it, so I probably can't do stuff today. Possibly, but probably not.

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Okay, I know the colour scheme isn't right for the site, but this is the current style for comments. Are we going to mimic the commenting of the Scratch site more, or should we have a mix or what?

I like the example way better, but this is a scratch site so I say like Scratch.  hmm

Okay, I don't think it will be hard to change it! I'll make a start on a test page for people to try out  smile

Does anyone know the maximum length of a Scratcher username?

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Maybe it is because of the last four letters of grape  d:
[blocks]
<if><(<{ SAY }>  <=> Grape )>
<set{ SAY }to( G****
[/blocks]

Hmmm, yes, but then people could guess the what it actually said. If we changed all of them
to *'s, then there would leave no tracks.  wink

By the way, welcome to scratch, buddy!  big_smile

Adjusting it to look like the Scratch comments is taking longer than expected... commenting works, but it's not looking very nice  tongue

http://www.blocks.scratchr.org/test.php

^^^^ anyone can currently post in this, I tried to make it look as much as possible like the scratch one. Delete and report buttons not added yet and everyone has my icon and the name "test user" until I sort login out.

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Looks pretty much like the Scratch one, except I would have it float left.  tongue
It doesn't parse emoticons as images when it's checked, and could you get rid of the scrollbar on the right of each comment?  tongue
No BBCode here?
Oh, and what about the TITLE tag? xP

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Bbcode and smilies ARE coded in, I don't know why they're currently not working. I'm also working on the scroll bar  smile

Re: Welcome to your local block library! - Website development thread.

Oh, I see! I was going:

variable your comment
variable string = your comment
parse variable string to add smilies and bbcode
display comment (should have been display string)
