Okay, so here's an update on what's going on. I'm currently in the process of coding a administrator control panel on the new site that will allow librarians to approve pending block submissions, update changeable areas of the site (such as news bulletins) and manage other parts of the site. Meowmeow55 is working on a file manager that librarians will be able to access from this control panel so that site development can continue.

Okay and I should do what?

That's good...
Are we going to have a favicon?
Also, the header should have
<li id="active">
on the page it is on.

Someone (can't remember who) made a favicon for the old FHC site that Daffy22 made, but IMO I thought it was too shiny. Maybe a mini-stack block with a B on it would be a good favicon?

Like this?
And are you talking about ?
Sparks, can't you take some of the code from this site?
LOL the block lib has gone through so many sites...
Freehostingcloud, weebly, 00webhost, and now scratchr.

It was never on weebly but I get your point. I quite liked the shiney library favicon actually!
Our shared image-host?
Should I try to shine the other one? :3

Hi Miles!
Thanks for writing, and congrats on passing 300 blocks! The block library is amazing and I'm glad you and everyone else involved with it are expanding it to a new site.Amos from the Scratch team has allowed us to have a "thumbs up" page hosted on the Scratch site that we can link to to show that the Scratch site trust us to keep user information safe when Scratch usernames and passwords are given!
Part of this request is that we allow them to view a live copy of all php pages containing the Scratch API, code and all, so that they can see that the username and password are never carried from that page. Is there a way we can let them see the live code for our pages WITHOUT having to give them the login details for the site? I don't mind doing that but it's awkward and not very neat...
Here is a full list of questions and answers shared currently between Amos and myself:sparks wrote:
To what extent may we claim affiliation to Scratch and the Scratch website?
Amos wrote:
Just make it clear that your site is made by members of the Scratch community and not part of MIT or the official Scratch website (although, we do think it's awesome). Explaining this on an "about" page or in fine print would be fine. If you want to run text by us / me (Amos / Lightnin), feel free to send it around, but I'm not worried about it.

If a Scratch user submits something that is against the Scratch website Terms of Use on our website should we report them to you with evidence of their infringement as if it had ocurred on the Scratch site itself, or is the behaviour and track record of a Scratcher on our site not considered part of their behaviour on yours?
Amos wrote:
Well, that's a good question. Tracking things across domains like this could be kind of complicated. Have you had a lot of problems like this in the past?
If not, I'm inclined to say not to worry about it, but to feel free to contact us if there are accounts used to repeatedly troll your site or do sneaky / malware type things.I think in this case we needn't bother for the time being unless repeated problems occur, we can always ban scratchers from our site if they misbehave.

The user password is not stored once the API has been checked for obvious reasons but sharing their password outside of the Scratch site can of course quite rightly worry a user. Is there any way that the Scratch website can "thumbs up" our site on a page we can link to on the submission form if we, for example shared a live copy of the submission PHP file with you? This would allow you to see that the password is not carried outside of that page at any time.

Interesting!
As we move to Scratch 2.0, we're looking at doing something cool like using open authentication. But it's too soon to dive into that now. So I think the easiest short term solution is for us to make the thumbs up page you describe. Can you sketch one out and send us a draft? We'll tweak it and host it on info.scratch.mit.edu.
To do that we would probably need to set up another FTP account... And 000webhost doesn't allow that.
If we can/plan on moving to "something.scratch.mit.edu" or "something.scratchr.org" and running our site on their server, then they can just access everything, then we won't need to do any serious changes, but if they are just giving us the domain, we will still need to show them our code.
To just show them the code, we either get another "more public" ftp account that can only view/read the files which we can't do on 000webhost ( as I said before ). I really don't want to move *again* but there is an even better free hosting ( http://x10hosting.com ) that we can use.
I think we should just give the Scratch Team the password and username, they can help us build the website as well and help us find loop-holes in our code.
The only possibly bad thing that could happen is they recruit a bad team member, which I doubt will happen. :p

We have blocks.scratchr.org :3 :D

TheSuccessor, meowmeow55, Magnie, ProgrammingFreak, scimonster, SSBBM and Pecola1, Could you all please log in here and fill something into your "about me" page? There's an example already there!
meowmeow55 is trying to get a file manager working for the new site, sorry it's not done yet but I'm working on the site slowly in the meantime!

Logging in worked
Beware, it takes me a long time for me to write these things

I'm online on Yahoo if you want to chat, sparks...

I've filled out my "About Me" page. Where can I access it maybe? Also, how can I help code the site, do I use the same ftp authentication but with "blocks.scratchr.org" as the domain? Or is there something specific?

Hmm, didn't update...
How can I access the code and fix it?

Hey Magnie, The Scratch team are reluctant for me to share the connection, login, FTP details etc, which is a bummer. Meowmeow55 is currently trying to set up a front-end file manage which will appear on the control panels of those listed as developers on this page (Which is where you can see your about page).
The updater didn't work and I have no idea why. SSBBM managed to change his, then, without actually changing anything I tried a few times, failing to make a change each time until suddenly it works... I have literally NO idea what's up with it! I'll put the code on the site11 server for you

Updating isn't working.
So wait, how are we going to help if we don't get the details? Post the code here and you add it?

The updater sometimes works... No idea why, I've posted the code on the site11 site now, if your a site developer and want to try and find the problem please take a look in the site11 file manager for it (root directory, not public)!

Sorry sci, the updater sometimes works and sometimes does not
I have no idea why and I'm trying to fix it. I can only recommend copying your changes to clipboard before posting, and then updating till the changes stick
