Scratch

So, my friend Ben was playing around in class, tapping and humming. Then, the teacher calls on him. And he's freaking, because he didn't hear the question, plus he's failing Trig. So he answers with the Chipmunk Song, sung a capella with a squeeky voice. Then out of the blue, the teacher arrives to his desk, and looks right at him, and says, you're shooting for UVA, right? He nods, not looking like he could sing for another couple hundred years. "Math major, right?" He nods again. "Do your work. Pay attention. Complete your assignments. I still haven't gotten that quiz back from you. You're failing. This could ruin your career plans!"  Meanwhile, my other friends and I are cracking up, but then Roger gets seen by the teacher, and she gives him a detention. We sobered up quickly, taking on an expression appropriate for the sickbed of a close friend. She says she wants to talk to Ben during study hall.
When we get to our third bell class, we're all teasing him, singing the song in our attempts to mimic his naturally high voice. (except Roger, who had detention and wasn't feeling very jovial at the moment.)
