Re: Change color by loudness sensor does not working online.

When a Scratch project is running online, it is actually running in an application called the Java Player which interprets the Scratch project and makes it run. The Java Player is a totally different application from the Scratch program (where you make the projects). So, while it does a pretty good job of running Scratch projects, it has it's own set of "quirks". The "loudness" block is one of the "quirks", so it won't work. More information on this kind of "quirks" is available here.

Re: Change color by loudness sensor does not working online.

Thanks Mathematics,

Before I create this thread I already found "Why Don't My Projects Work Correctly" but it never meantion about loudness sensor in the first post.

Is there any other way to make the project working as expected without installing Scratch?  My son he spend sometime on that project and he want to send that eCard to his teachers and classmate.  But now it turn out it not working online and he feel very sad.  That is his first project and I hope he can enjoy Scratch programming, so I want to find a solution for him.

If anyone can think of any work around or suggstion to make loudness sensor working, I'm much appricated.

Re: Change color by loudness sensor does not working online.

A user named Jens created a modification of Scratch called BYOB (Build Your Own Blocks) that comes with a built-in compiler allowing you to convert Scratch projects into an EXE file that you can run on any Windows computer: http://byob.berkeley.edu/

That's the best I can think of - otherwise, you'll need Scratch to run the project properly, sorry.  sad

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Alternatives to this:
-Scratch EXE Creator (naturally, I list it first because I made it  tongue )
-Scratch2EXE (the choice of many)
-EXEScratch
-Use IExpress to make EXEs

Yawn.

Re: Change color by loudness sensor does not working online.

Thank you everyone for suggestions.  I tried BYOB and Scratch EXE Creator only Scratch EXE Creator works for me.  BYOB look for a file with extension ypr (myApplication.ypr) which is not exist.  The only concern for me is the size of output, it about 13MB not sure is that too big for an email.  smile

The other problem for Scratch EXE Creator is too many questions asked.  Can I have a exe just launch the project and don't ask any question at all?  Currently it ask for confime to launch and save before quit.

I can make a slimmed-down version if you want! I'll add that to the list of things to do for version 1.1. (BTW, you should post suggestions like these in the Scratch EXE Creator thread rather than in here.  smile )
