A "Punk-o-Matic"-like game, looking for people who play instruments

So, recently I've been doing cool stuff on a flash game called Punk-o-Matic. I'd link you to it but it contains swearing and stuff, so I'll describe it: It's a game in which you can use a set of riffs, basslines and drum beats to compose your own Punk, Rock or Metal songs, and then play them in Guitar Hero-esque concerts. So I thought, why not do something similar on Scratch. At least being able to compose simple songs would be good since 1.4 is way too laggy for a real Guitar Hero clone with charts and all.

But to do that I need to find people who can play instruments or at least compose some riffs. If you play electric guitar, bass, drums or keyboard (dunno about other instruments, but I think acoustic guitar or piano would be fine.), have a decent mic and can compose your own stuff in a certain scale (we'll probably go with C major/A minor, it's the most simple one) tell me. If you can do some art or programming (the latter assuming you have basic music knowledge) it'd be nice too.

TL;DR: Got ideas for a cool musicmaking game, join if you want to help with art, programming, or recording your instrument.

People participating so far:
-technoguyx: Programming, ideas.
-SeptimusHeap: Programming.
-gbear605: A bit of programming I think, some ideas.

Instrumentalists:
-technoguyx: Guitar/Bass player who can also compose Drum/Synth parts in FL Studio.
-gbear605, bananaman114, SeptimusHeap, yoshiman56, Chatter: Piano/keyboard players.
-SlayerEW: Guitarist.
-pokedirector's cousin: Not confirmed yet.

Ideas:
-Piano and synth riffs (DONE)
-Single notes for piano and maybe other instruments (gbear405) (DONE)
-Playing your songs in a Guitar Hero fashion (IN THE WORKS, SeptimusHeap may look into it)
-Multiple pages for your songs
-Saving your songs
-A simple story mode
-More mouse-friendly (suggested by Combinebobnt, referring to the fact that keys are used to change stuff in notes)

Version History:
-v0.1 Alpha: First version
-gbear's remix of v0.1: Added single note blocks
-v0.2 Alpha: Improved single note blocks, added add/remove blocks function, block positions' are saved to a list (but no load/save yet), added keyboard blocks and recorded some guitar riffs.

Latest build: v0.2 Alpha (as of Dec 29, 2010)

I soon might get my electric piano hooked up to the computer.  If I do I will help with that.

Can I help?  I could get my cousin to play a little for it.  He's in a pretty cool band.

You already can do Keyboard/piano/guitar/tons of intsruments (individual notes) using scratch you know.

Of course, what does he play? Drums could be good, we have none now (I'm buying a bass soon)

Good, it'd be great if you could come up with some synth stuff  smile

EDIT: I managed to record some stuff by plugging my guitar directly to my comp. and using a VST amp  big_smile  But I'll wait 'till we have some more sound material and 'till I bother to implement multiple "pages" before uploading a new build.

Lol, nobody plays something other than piano now? D: Recordings in 120 or 150 BPM (right now we have only 150, but I think some slower stuff would be good) are fine.

EDIT: Added some ideas to the main post, post yours too to add them.  smile

Heh, just imagine rock played with a recorder  big_smile

Work on the Guitar Heroish engine if you can. I'm working a little in the engine and if we both work on the same thing we'll end up with 2 different versions and it'll be messy.  tongue  If you manage to implement note charts (something not done so far) you're my new hero  lol  But if it creates too much lag random notes will be fine, maybe making it more realistic by changing the speed and complexity of the notes.

Hmm. Maybe make one color form, say drums, so for a drums part, it would use, say, orange notes.

Ahhh I get it, you play all instruments at once. I like the idea, feel free to try it  smile  It might get a little repetitive though, with only one note for each instrument.  hmm

EDIT: Try to use the same colors in the alpha's blocks, blue guitar, red drums, yellow bass and add green for synth.
