Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park is said to be a supervolcano which is due to erupt within the next 10 years. When it erupts, not only will the initial eruption demolish the Dakotas, toxic ash will spread to almost the entire world. After a bit of researching, I've concluded this:
Yes, Old Faithful will erupt sometime, but exact dates are unclear. From what I see here, it won't happen anytime soon. So calm down. That's ok, I have a list.
To be serious, I don't think anything will happen either, I just like freaking people out.![]()
*punches* Dangit I was scared for a moment there!

Call me paranoid, but for the longest time I was EXTREMELY worried about 2012. Luckily, I am now worry-free, due to some information that I found. For anyone that was worried, I hope that this clears things up.
#1 The Mayan Calendar
For many of us, our calendar year ends December 31. After that, a new year starts on January 1. For the Mayans, December 21, 2012 is simply the end of the calendar year. In fact, they were excited to make it to the end of a calendar year and would celebrate on that day. After that, life still continues. No big deal.
#2 Asteroids, Meteors, and the Like
NASA is always keeping an eye open for these kinds of things. They would not hide that kind of information from the general public. Also, there is no proof that an asteroid would hit on that exact date.
#3 Increased Intensity of Storms
Again, no proof of such things on that date. Storms could get worse, no denying it, but it is improbable that multiple storms would happen all over the world at once, not to mention hurricane season is long over.
#4 Nostradamus
Not really a valid argument. HIs prophecies are so vague, not to mention they often never happen. If anyone tells you otherwise, remember that they often twist facts in his predictions to make them fit current events.
Here's a good example:
"In the year of the new century and nine months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror…
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city…” ”
In the city of york there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb
Interpretation: 2001 is the first year of the new century and this is the 9th month. New York is located at the 41st degree Latitude.
Scary isn’t it? This has been modified a lot to fit the event…Here’s the real thing:
The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.
Heh, not really the 9/11 prophecy you thought it was, eh? The same thing happens to 2012 prophecies. Don't believe them.
#5 Planet X/Nibiru
The Nibiru idea is also not probable, because if it had existed, NASA would have spotted it by now. If there is no proof that it even exists, what damage would it do?
#6 Other Strange Theories
People have said all kinds of unusual theories about 2012, such as a comet passing by and affecting tide patterns. Most of these theories don't have any scientific evidence behind them. Unless they have some REAL scientific evidence or such, don't believe them.
Thanks for listening! I hope that this has cleared up some fears. If you have other theories or questions, I would be happy to help find the answer for you.
I have found that this link is very helpful. You can look here for more info.
Scratch On!
thank you for telling me~ now I am not scared!

In regards to everyone's Old Faithful discussion, isn't Old Faithful just a geyser?

The eruption wouldn't be of Old Faithful, it would be Yellowstone all together. Right now, there are millions of gallons of Magma beneath Yellowstone, and it's one of the biggest Super Volcano's in the world.

To clear the first discussion, 10 years sure won't be 2012, or you would say it will erupt in 10 years, in 2002.

2002 was 8 years ago

Eh, whatever will happen will happen. If it's nothing, so be it. But I do like reading up on the theories on how the world might end. Maybe it just proves I am a Si-Fi fan. My personal favorite is Yellowstone. I saw a movie on what may happen when it erupts.

Within ten years. Probably earlier.

He means that if the volcano erupted in 2012, they would predict that it would happen in 10 years in 2002.

I sometimes think of ways the world could end, some are unrealistic.
Like what? A 2'6 evil turnip that trains rainbow bunnies will kill us all! NOOOOOOOO
No, like something happens and the sun floats to the earth and burns it and everything on it up.

I'm glad that you don't have any fear of 2012. I don't anymore either.

Yes, there probably would be, but not all at once right?

It could be anywhere from tomorrow to 100 years from now.
On the contrary, we're overdue and running on margin time.
Well, that sucks.

Then no one's left to prove they were right.
Either way, disbelievers are win/win.

Lol.
BTW, there has always been destruction due dates (say THAT 5 times fast.) The fact is, NONE HAVE EVER HAPPENED. If they were true we could've been dead 100 years ago for all I care!
