Can someone explain what RPGs are?

When i hear (or see dosnt really matter) the word (well abrivation) RPG i either thing Rocket Propeled Grenade or Role Playing Game. apperently in scratch it dosnt mean either of the two. can someone explian what an RPG in scratch is?

RPGs on Scratch are Role-Playing Games, but of a different sort. Scratch Wiki article

RPGs are Role Playing Game on Scratch, because in Scratch, people can make them, (it does mean something on Scratch), and also people can make TBRPGs, or Text Based Role Playing Games.

What is a text based role playing game?

Minecraft, Redwall, and Cyberchase fan, and PROUD.
