Re: Help with Mesh

Many people have made a chat room with mesh you might want to try searching the site for those projects and downloading them to see how they work.

I have a Mesh game which shows who else is in the room.
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/what-the/1174136
Above is a bingo game with Mesh and allows as many players as the network can hold. Try playing two games to see how it works.

Do you want something simular to this.
http://www.scratch.mit.edu/ext/youtube/?v=IRTigMrfc6c
As you can see they can communicate with each other.

Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

Re: Help with Mesh

Well, for one thing, Mesh doesn't work online. It's the cold, hard truth. And I have no clue. I'll think about it.

Re: Help with Mesh

@panulaa-you don't have to be so mean, people are trying to help...
and here's what i know:
access the source code (or use panther)
give people your ip address
have them enter it
hopefully something works. try it with your dad or someone locally first.

Re: Help with Mesh

I think the two computers you are doing the chat-room on would have to be connected using the same internet connection. So basically, you would have t be in the same house or across the street with the person your doing the chatting with, therefor eliminating the use of a chat-room altogether because you could just shout something and it would be heard. I think that mesh is better for games because then they have a purpose that you can't degrade by simply yelling or even saying something to someone who is only several meters away.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P.s. I got mesh last week, connected my two computers using it, one of those computers is the newest version of macbook pro with no viruses, and one is this clunky powerbook G4 which is like a century old and has a billion viruses in it. and guess what it did? It transferred every single thing from that computer into the trash bin of my new computer. It also turned out that those things it transferred were filled with viruses. Then my computer actually turned off. right now I am typing on a computer that was recently taken apart several times for 75 dollars. I'm just trying to say, don't connect two computers unless their both pieces of junk or if they are both shiny, new, and clean.

Unlucky you. Anyways, you're right about the chat-room.

That would be the viruses' fault and not Mesh.  smile  What were you thinking of, connecting to a computer with all those viruses!  tongue  But poor you.  yikes

Well, the reason i did it was 'cause i thought mesh connected very simply without being fully connected to the other computer (thereby making virus transformations unlikely.) I probably should have checked first though; I was gonna use those 75 dollars for a picoboard.  sad

I think that Panther works online, it's a bit more complicated though.

What do you mean, online? Panther can't upload projects - that'd go against some copyrights.

I mean with mesh, you can connect with other computers using the worldwide web instead of just bluetooth.

Re: Help with Mesh

You're actually wrong about having to be on the same internet connection. Mesh can connect (or atleast now it can) to anybody anywhere, as long as they have your IP. I've heard that Mesh only works locally, I think they've changed it with Scratch 1.4
