unlocking "read-only" files--how do we save??

When we try to save a project, the message "save failed- file is locked or read-only" always appears.

How do we unlock the folder, or change it so it is not read-only??

Thanks for any help you can give

Jane H.

If you use a mac, use control+click, get info, and use the submenu Ownership and Permissions.

If you're in windows maybe you can try
right-click>>properties>>attributes
then uncheck "read only"

I have another idea -- are you running Scratch from the .dmg file? If so, it will not save. Try dragging Scratch to the Applications folder, and then run it from there. Please let us know if it works! Thanks!

Re: unlocking "read-only" files--how do we save??

What if (on Windows Vista), when I click properties it is not a check mark, but a blue square over the whole box? If I uncheck it, click Apply, and press OK (Apply Changes to this folder, subfolders, and files because the choice "Apply changes to this folder" is disabled"), but then if I check the Properties again, it becomes read only with the blue square over the box.
