*sigh* my school has this rule, that you have to sit with your class at lunch. We didn't have it last year, and, if i'm not mistaken, 7th graders can handle this type of thing BETTER than 6th graders!
I've known about this rule since the first day of school, but it wasn't reinforced, so i sat where i wanted to. see, me and all of my friends were separated by class, they were all together, but i was in another class.
so i always looked forward to lunch so i could see them. today, i was sitting down at my friends' class' lunch table, and one of the lunch moderators came and told me to go to my lunch table.
I thought it would only be for a day, but then our vice principle, our evil, dreaded, vice principle, said that if someone is caught sitting at another table, then the whole table gets detention.
i think i was actually fighting tears in my eyes. what's the point of this rule anyway? lunch should be a relaxing time! classes simply break up you and your friends, but, i'm not mad because i'm not in the same class as those 5 or 6 of my friends, even if they are my only ones (that is actually a lot for my school) so, anyway, it's bad enough that i'm not in class with them, but, that's OK, i mean, it's not like the teachers who put the classes together know--or care for that matter--who's friends or not, but i am separated from almost ALL my friends, and again, not mad about THAT, but the only time i can look forward to seeing them is lunch, and now they've took THAT away from me too! i mean, sure, there's recess, but, they just took half of my time with them away.
They just ruined the rest of my 7th grade.
i need to stop this. i need to get them to take away this dumb rule! i mean, it's just creating more work for them too! they have to go around checking every table now! i'm already writing a persuasive essay about it in writing class, and i plan to show it to them, and if that doesn't work, i'm going to stop buying school lunch--no, stop eating lunch fully--and...you know what, teachers are not going to get it. i shot the teacher who told me to move a hard look of defiance, and she didn't even show she understood. i don't know. maybe i can come up with a plan with my friends...
if i ever get the chance to speak to them.
so, what do you guys think i should do? do your schools have this problem? when i'm done, should i post my essay on the internet to spread the word? whatever happens, i'm not putting up with this all year. i almost cry every day since i'm not in class with my friends, but, now it's even worse.
and, worst of all, my principle is leaving, and the new principle will be our mean vice principle.

How many more years to you have to suffer- I mean go to that school?
Because if you only go to eigth like I do, you'll live.

well, yeah, only until 8th grade, but it depends what class i'm in next year. if i'm with my friends, then i won't have to worry anyway. but i just met them all last year, and i thought 7th grade would be great, but now it's just horrible!
i just realized i'm being a cry-baby about this. :P no more crying for me. >:)

We go to lunch in the middle of third period, and we're assigned to sit with our third period class (And depending on the size of the classes, more than one class may have to share a table). But, you can pretty much sit anywhere. As long as you don't get caught, which isn't likely to happen. Some of my friends (Who are in an entirely different class for third period) have managed to sit at my table every day for the past month.
Also, my sister wrote a pursuasive essay on this very subject when she was in seventh grade, too XD
Apparently it wasn't very effective for her

well, for my essay, i used some words that...lets just say that i'll probably get a detention for writing it. i used to just sit anywhere, but now that are actually checking each table every five minutes to see who's there! so it's getting really annoying. i just drew a rather...gruesome picture of my vice principle just for the fun of it.
i no longer really care that i can't be with my friends, it's just the stupidity of the teachers, and how they actually only to this to make us, kid, miserable.

I hate this rule, too. Come on, principles, NEWS FLASH: we are MIDDLE SCHOOLERS, not elementary school kids!
More things I hate that are locked down at my school:
*School Uniforms
* We have to walk around on the walls between periods, not straight to the next class.
* We (at least 6th and 7th graders) HAVE to take P.E, even if we take, Band, Choir, etc.
*We have to use mesh or clear plastic backpacks (both are weak, ugly, and expensive)
BTW, I am in 6th grade.

well, the only one of those rules that you listed that i have is the we HAVE to take P.E. one. i know! it sucks. we also have to take spanish in my school. EVEN if i chose art!
my elementary school was WAY more free, i mean, we DID have to sit with our class at lunch, but in fifth grade, we got Out to Lunch, so we got to leave school, with a limit to how far we could walk, and buy things on our own, just like most adults to when they get their lunch break at work. now, it feels like we are going backwards! they are teaching us to be LESS mature! come on teachers! we can handle WAY more!

Pretty harsh. I had something like that before I think...
I would just try to hold it in, and deal with it until higher years. Maybe you can see your friend(s) in an after school program or something

That's a bummer... Oh well, they probably won't do that in high school. At my high school, we can eat wherever we want on our (very large) campus- in the cafeteria, in the commons, in the halls (on benches, on the ground...), outside (on the ground, on tables, on stairs...), in classrooms if the teachers allow it, in your car, etc... Seniors are allowed to leave campus for lunch.

assigned lunch tables? and you think thats bad? you have no idea what I go through in the Axillary.

Military, your name explains it so we don't mind.
Solutions...
1. Well thought out letter
2. Petition
3. Go crazy and almost kill the p- wait that's a one time thing.
4. Change school
5. Ignore the rule

BMP = fail
Sorry to hear that emily, but yeah you were overreacting a bit. That rule is most probably to keep everything under control during lunch time.

complainnn to the presibal or something.
i had something like that in primary school where each year had to sit in certian areas- but because i use to be really reb-dog i just ate where ever, even on the playground and stuff.
i wouldn't worry about it- either be really rebal and get your friends to be to, or just wait it out.

Oh yeah, that kinda sucks. The 7th grade houses have to eat with 8th graders instead of each other >: It doesn't really make any sense.
But anyways, I lived with that for 5 years in Elementary. Just try to be in line next to your friends.
