You'd better believe it.
Lately, I've been observing the flurry of speeches and moderator campaign announcements with keen interest. Just recently, it occurred to me that I, too want to serve as a moderator, but it took some prodding from coolstuff to finally convince me. (Thanks, coolstuff) I also had no idea that the elections were so soon, which explains my, er, last minute announcement.
But anyway, you're probably wondering why I should be a moderator.
I believe that I am respectful and helpful on the forums wherever I can be. (And for those of you familiar with me on the forums, I hope you agree.) Should I be elected as a moderator, I have no intention for my other duties to get in the way. If anything, I want to increase the amount of helpful posts I make on topics.
Secondly, I intend to make every effort to keep Scratch a safe place for all by removing inappropriate content from the site. I have to give credit where credit is due to our current 7 moderators; they make a valiant effort to cover everything, but sometimes 7 people, who all have their own schedules they need to adhere to, just can't catch everything. I would hope to cover that gap by being online whenever I can and quickly responding to flagged content and taking care of it properly and maturely.
Finally, as we all know, spam can become an issue sometimes. It is my intention to not only remove spam, but to discourage people from posting it in the first place. Let's remember that sometimes, people just don't know what not to post. By reminding people not to post these things and gently informing them of Scratch's community guidelines, I hope to not only keep spam out of Scratch, but to encourage new Scratchers to become active and helpful in the community.
That's about it everyone. I look forward to your responses, and Scratch on!

Woot! Too many great moderators to vote for… I don't know which to vote for! Anyways, you've definitely got one of your top votes - I strongly admire your helpfulness in the community.

I didn't read your speech yet, since it's past midnight, but you are a high choice

Yeah, the deadline for announcing your candidacy was yesterday, and voting will be held in a couple days.

You've got my vote. No way I'm changing my mind. That paragraph about spam was very well written btw.

Oh, wow. I totally forgot. I am repeatedly surprised by the age of some people here on Scratch. I'm still awed that there are 12-13 year olds on the forums that are just incredibly mature; I never would have guessed that they would be that young. (Compared to me) I'm 15 and don't even trust most of my peers to be that mature online. It's not to say that I don't believe younger people can be mature, but you just expect older people to be more mature.

I, personally, like the way steppenwulf puts it

In my experience, most younger kids act more mature on the internet than older ones because they want to mask their actual immaturity. Older people, on the other hand, like to goof off on the internet.
