This thread is dedicated to the hoby of Geocaching
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is going to geocaching.com and looking up the coordinates of a geocache. A geocache is a little box, usually hidde in the forest filled with a notebook, a pen, and some little toys. You punch the coordinates into your GPS, and it points you towards the geocache. When you get there, write your name in the notebook, take a trinket, and leave a trinket. You can collect these trinkets as trophies for your adventures!
Affraid you won't find any geocaches? Well, there are over 500,000 in the United States alone. There are Caches in every contenent, including Antarctica. Put in your zipcode to the website and you will discover the locations of many caches near you. Trust me, I have discovered about 7 in my town alone. You can also make your own geocache, hide it, and post it's coordinates on geocaching.com!
On this thread, you can discuss all things related to geocaching.

I do this at a camp. But that's just a local thing, and we just put a little stamp on a piece of paper, not really geocaching in the exact sense of the word, but we still use a GPS to find the caches.

I believe you are participating in a similar activity called 'Letterboxing' which is not as fun.

perhaps you could tell me your geocaching.com username? Have you hidden any caches? names? With your username, I can add a list of all your cache finds to the list. I am hoping the scratch community can pool our finds together to make a very, very, long list of caches found.

Yeah, so the other day I planted a cache in Massachusetts called 'Cave Climbin' Fun!' it is at the top of a very tall hill, and inside of a cave type thing.

Haven't done any that intense yet, but there aren't any like that within 5 miles of my house.

I did that once.
Tres lame.

I checked my area, and there are a couple around that shouldn't require a GPS. I'm going to see if I can find them, since we have a 3.5 day weekend. The only problem is that one of them has often gotten stolen.

Actually, I've never geocached, but I really want to and have wanted to for awhile, maybe I'll ask my dad sometime... If I do get around to it, I'll let you know.

Tres lame. The stuff you get is lame (What were you expecting? A diamond ring? A motorbike?), but the expirience is fun!
I just meet for the treat :3
I keep my eyes on the prize.
I'm just present for the present.
.......I'm out of horrible puns and rhymes now.

yep. I live in a very, very, hilly and woody town south of Boston. It's a geocachers paradise.
Oh, and tonks, please. It may not be of interest to you, but for some people it is very fun. I have one friend who throws a fit and runs home whenever I mention geocaching.
