This has been suggested a lot in the past... Most popularly here. However, topics like this one provide some pretty clear-cut answers as to why it won't be made available for the wii or any other system. There also the matter that although the Wii is quite popular, Scratch is designed for, and makes the most sense for, home computers. The audience that Scratch currently has is probably only around 300,000 people, and it's not worth releasing a program (which would cost money, which is against the license of Scratch) for the Wii for just those people, only a handful of whom actually have a Wii. Also, it's much more a novelty; the uses are very limited and the idea would die out after a few days.

Ahaha, no elaborate rebuttal?

I have always thought this idea would be cool, or even useful. I think it could be done. The only problem is the Wii is pretty weak, hardware wise.
WARNING: There is possibly confusing tech talk in the next paragraph. If you are easily confused, get Wikipedia open now.
The processor is the single-core, 729 Mhz IBM "Broadway" chip. In comparison, The Xbox 360 uses a tri-core, 3.2 Ghz IBM "Xenon" chip. The "Broadway" is equivalent to mid-range "Coppermine" core Intel Pentium III from Feb. 1999. The "Xenon" is equivalent to a modern Intel Core i3 550, but the "Xenon" has three cores, but the Core i3 550 has 2. The Wii is seriously underpowered.

[removed] no. that doesnt make any sense. even flash will never make it to scratch. maybe if you spent more than and hour on your projects they might be decent.

Actually, Scratch 2.0 will be entirely Flash-based. Also, please keep comments respectful.

Cool idea, but I don't see the point
. I mean, yeah it'd be fun at first but after a while you would start using the computer again. Also Scratch is supposed to be free, not something some people can have and some can't. People without wiis might get jealous but a lot more people have computers than wiis.

oops i said that wrong. i meant to say even flash will never make it to "wii"
and i bet even YOU, harakou, can't make a scratch game even close to the quality of a decent flash game. and it has nothing to do with your skill. its simply that scratch is a weak program. however, its very easy to learn and use, which is why i use it (i could never get the hang of flash actionscript)

Personal attack.
And MIT does not have resources or time to port Scratch to Wii. If you want it on Wii, port it yourself.

Gosh, people are being so rude. It's just an idea.

Very well said Coolstuff. But many people have already tried/made items that work with a WiiMote.
