If there's another set of elections in the summer, you may wish to try running!

Re: Chronicles of a Moderator: Moderating & the Responsibilities Involved

I have a question about reporting.
Lately I've seen some projects with the use of guns and I'm not sure if it's appropriate for the website. Should I flag it?

If something makes you uncomfortable, it's always okay to flag it. Most projects that happen to contain guns won't be removed, but some do end up in a category called "Not for everyone" that prevents them from reaching the front page.

I still want to run anyways when I FINALLY turn 14, but this really lays out exactly what moderating really must be.

By the way, do I have anything bad in that "Dustbin"?  wink

I can't tell you that! That would be cheating  wink

Anyways, this is a bump.  smile

wow... is it still hard for you

There are all sorts of day-to-day challenges in judgement, but it's definitely a lot easier than when I first began.  wink

I don't meet the age criteria for a mod. :(Could you make a role called"Junior Moderator"? They are for kids under 14. they don't get as many priveleges, and their bans go through the actual mods. they can get nominated just like regular mods.

Re: Chronicles of a Moderator: Moderating & the Responsibilities Involved

I'll run in 2013, when I'm 14.

For now, I'm content to let the moderators soak up all the troll threads. @Earthboundjeff-I've seen you post on the Swell Forums. Swearing and all that. To be blunt-Don't run for mod.

Great! In 4 or more years when I'm able to become a Moderator, and get the chance - I will look at this before accepting the responsibility!

Re: Chronicles of a Moderator: Moderating & the Responsibilities Involved

Every person wishing to become a mod should read this.  I am serious, because some may go in thinking that it is really easy, then get hit with all the difficulties and decide to stop

Re: Chronicles of a Moderator: Moderating & the Responsibilities Involved

Well, um, I kinda skip-read so I know most of it but I might've skipped somethings. Anyways, what your describing, coolstuff, is a half-complete total leadership of us scratchers. I think doing all the stuff you said was probably worth all of it but thats just me. How do you even become a moderator? And how did I suddley become a scratcher? I was a new scratcher before. I'm not complaining because I love my new scratcher thingy. Do you know who descides what status or whatever you become?

To become a moderator, you have to be elected through a moderator election. You became a Scratcher because you were active all around the site.

Hope this helps!  smile
