I think that we had to vote so we could decide which columns stay, and which go.

I think that we had to vote so we could decide which columns stay, and which go.
but if we can pick any of the ones proposed, then what's the point of voting for which ones go and which ones stay if they could be picked anyway?

To say which ones we should keep and shouldn't keep.

Can I review front-paged projects?

The Scratch Forums
The Scratch forums are split into 30 sections, but I'll only be talking about the main ones.
*clears throat in show-offy manner* The first forum is titled 'Announcements'. As far as I know, this forum can only have topics made by the Scratch Team (except for ones moved into the forum). It's purpose is basically what it says on the box; announcements. It has all the things the ST wish to 'announce' to the public, for example there was a topic about Clutter and what it is (http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=48309).
The second forum is 'New Scratchers'. It is used by new Scratchers introducing themselves and Scratchers giving helpful advice and tips to new scratchers.
The third is called 'Show & Tell'. Here people 'show and tell' others about their newest projects/galleries.
The fourth is 'FAQ'. It stands for 'frequently asked questions', and has all the things you might ever want to now about Scratch (well, some of them. :P). However, it is rarely used and few people post in it.
The fifth is 'All About Scratch' or 'AAS', and has a large variety of topics. It has anything related to Scratch, from questions to answers.
Can someone add on to that?

Actually, I'm doing a column for advice and tips instead. I'm typing up now...
PLATFORMING THAT WORKS:
Yes, I'm a gamer (actually I'm a game-maker that has no idea why they call us gamers. Gamers are people who's sole purpose is to beat their high score on Black Ops or something.) So I'm going to teach you programming teniques because I like programming. (Dang, how do you spell that. Edit it iCode. Do all the work.) But I also want to do this because I'm sick of playing platformers that let you run through the walls. And I remember how much I wanted to be able to make a game that doesn't. So Ill teach a novice thing, not an expert one, today.
Now I don't make amazing games that should be on flash sites or whatever they are complimenting front page projects with now. But I can make a playable games, ones that take time to complete. But I suggest that if your someone that is searching for fame not to look here, because I won't give you any. Heck, even the most popular people on scratch can't give you fame. Scratch fame.
By now your getting bored of my stupid rambles, so I will start:
First make two variables, named gravity and acceleration, for the player. Make sure their for all sprites. Then make the background have a black ground or something like that, but this is going to be color coded so make it one color. Then add these scripts to the player sprite:
Walah! You have gravity. Try dragging the player around the screen to see what happens when you let go. Now, we are going to add moving with acceleration. Add these scripts, also to the player sprite:
So he moves around...But no jumping? Simply add this script to the very first script we made:
So now he moves...And he jumps...And we want to avoid the next part. Wall detection, everyone hates it, exept if you know it. I am going to use color sensing for this tutorial simply because I'm lazy and it's easier to teach. So duplicate the player sprite, and delete all of the scripts. In the paint editor, draw colored lines around the player duplicate like so:
Then delete the origional sprite so only the lines remain. Exit the paint editor and add these scripts:
And there you have it, a pretty decent platformer. It is a bit glitchy, but to make it glitch-free you have to get a bit more complicated. And for adding the levels and things: Your on your own. Have fun programming!

Sorry, gnk2200 already decided he wanted to do that. Really sorry you already wrote something and that it won't be included.
Everyone else: I will update the front again now.
RAF: I'm downloading the newest base off your test account, and I'll start compiling articles soon. Nice article. MUCH MUCH MUCH too long, though. It's a column, not a special. I'll make it a special for this month, I've been very vague about length, sorry.
gnk: I'll update now. Also, please base your article off of werdna123's. She has a good start, just add to it.

A guide to basic Scratch starts
This is for all your beginners to the Scratch world.
My first tip is not to expect to get famous overnight- it never happens. Fame comes to you slowly, and it's rare to become famous for at least two months after your arrival. But even six months is unlikely. However, don't let that end your scratching days, for Scratch is not just about fame and popularity, the real aim is simple. In fact I could put it into a three-lettered word. Fun. F. U. N. Fun.
You may ask the common question: 'What projects get famous?' The answer is nearly anything! From sprites to animations. From games to art. From simulations to music. From OSs to memes. From remixes to- well you get the picture.
But then you will ask: 'But how do I make these things?'. Well, I can't go through all that, but there is help on making projects in this magazine, but really just start simple. One wise Scratcher once said something along the lines of: 'don't make an RPG straight away- work yourself there'. So basically what this means is, start off small and slowly, as you advance, make better and better projects.
The next question is: 'How do I get my project seen?'. Well, first of there's a big no: while some people don't mind it the majority do, spamming. Well, it's not exactly spamming, but that's what people usually call it. It means in this case linking your project everywhere so people click the link. Unless of course you are saying something like 'Nice project, the movement is similar to this (link to project)'. So anyway, back to the question, the Show & Tell forum is great for advertising! You can tell people all about your project without being called a spammer!
One last tip is be respectful and follow the TOU. On two occasions I didn't think and went against them and got a message from the ST. *guilty look*
Thanks for reading, Scratch on!
