I downloaded Java when I started Scratch. But, the thing that says: 'Dowload Java To View This Project On Your Browser' keeps appearing! I have to download something JUST to watch/ play it! Please help!

You only need Java to view projects online. The Scratch application doesn't need Java at all.

Java plugin must not be installed. If you're on linux mint, it's easy enough to fix.

You do not need to update java when a new version comes out unless something major is changed.
And for the problem, can you specify the OS you are using?
