For Games. 'Nuff said.
Just kidding.
Like in Stencyl, maybe you could have a feature in Scratch where you coul;d make your own preloader, much like Stencyl's.
It would allow people to have their own company logo be up while the game loads, or give an OS a more "OS-y" feel.

I had been thinking about this! Support given!
Thanks.
Any idea how it would work, though? The Stencyl preloader is probably just a bit too complicated for many young Scratch Users...

Yes many Scratcher's would love this.
It might work by using another project that has a size less then 300kb show while the other one loads while hidden.
<applet id="ProjectApplet" style="display:block" code="ScratchApplet" codebase="/static/misc/" archive="ScratchApplet.jar" height="387" width="482" style="display: none"><param name="project" value=""><h3><a href="http://www.java.com/getjava/">Install Java</a> to view this project right on your browser!<a href=""><img src=""></a></h3></applet>
Once it's finished loading a script might close the other applet and show this one.

Having not used Stencyl before, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Could you explain a bit more?
You know the loader when Scratch projects are loading? In Stencyl, you can make your own style, etc.
Have your own background image... The list goes on.

Oh, okay. Yes, that would be cool to have.

Support. This would be really nice for an OS I'm making.
Exactly!
Maybe even some kind of animation that could play in the background...
Bump.

Maybe something like a signature, you know, for impatient people like me to read while SOME 750 sprite platformer loads

Awesome Idea!

Interesting idea! But how do you think it would work? I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can't imagine how this could be implemented in a Scratch-like way. It also seems a little unnecessary because there are only a handful of useful applications, and the display only shows itself for a few seconds depending on the size of the project.

Wouldn't it then need to have a loading screen for the loading screen?

I think this was suggested already, and someone pointed out that it would take longer just loading the loading bar!
But as Sonickyle said, maybe it would be good if there were pre-made preloaders.

I like the idea alot!

I completely support, except for one thing-How'd it happen? What, it would be a block that can be like the green flag thing but you can't add anything to, that says "Preloader" or something, and that whichever sprite has that block is the preloader? And if there was more than 1 it would just do the normal one of Loading? I mean, the idea is great, but how to implement it is the most important part...
