Yes. This eliminates pretty much everyone.
Why don't you feel comfortable? My guess: As a moderator they would accept that:
• They may have to answering reports that may lead to disturbing language, inappropriate images, and the like
• They will have to spend lots of their time on the Scratch forums, answering reports and so on
• It's a very large commitment (younger people might not understand that )
• Much younger users might have trouble understanding what's inappropriate and what's not
• Users need to be mature
I'm bad at explaining what I want to say. Dx

I'll be 14 early-ish next year if I want to run then...
Anyway I'm happy with the new rules - to be honest I felt a bit that several users at least didn't really understand what they were shooting for.
What about the TBG, though? I think all of us are 13, except for Survivorduck who's 14.But you know me. I'm mature...
I wasn't talking about you.

Exactly. Maybe I'll make an appeal... this is going to cause a lot of debate.

Hang on... are illusionist and Dazachi leaving because of their age, or another reason (inactivity?)?

Well, I turned 14 yesterday! But I don't think I want to be a community moderator...

It's because of their age.

I'm pretty sure they're both twelve.
The 14-year age limit is perfectly within reason.

I'm 13, but I act older than I really am. Also, I'm on Scratch every single day! could they at least make an exception at that? Or maybe lower it to 13? I've only got 6 months!

I see why there are these new restrictions. NO body better start the I'm 14 now fad.

Sorry to everyone who isn't eligible to be in the elections anymore. Don't let that stop you from voting for the best candidates, though

About a week after the 14th

Although I'm EXTEMLY EXTREMELY UNHAPPY, I can see the logic in this so I won't make a formal protest.

Thanks for understanding. We don't like disappointing Scratchers, especially Scratchers who really care about the community and have invested a lot of time and energy in their campaigns. It was a difficult choice to make.

I'm still mad, but I've calmed down a bit.

XD
I'm sure there are Scratchers who are younger than 14 who are responsible enough, and would do a wonderful job. But being a mod is a big commitment, and we don't feel comfortable asking Scratchers younger than that to take it on.
Why don't you feel comfortable?

Oy, this has caused the debate that I thought it would. I mean, I see where the Scratch team is coming from, but I think there are plenty of mature people on this website who are under the age of 14. I see the posts that say they don't want to make someone under 14 take on the commitment of being a mod, but then you just keep the parental consent part. Also, the Scratch team would have the final say in the candidates, so if they think someone isn't mature enough or would be stretching themselves too thin, then they just don't put them on the candidate list.
I think making a cutoff of 14 would cut way too much of the candidate list.
This might just be my disappointment at not being able to run talking, but after all the thinking about this election I've done, I'm annoyed that it's going to go to waste for 11 months until I turn 14. I thought I'd been a helpful contributor here and at least deserved a shot at being a mod, which was one of my dreams on here, but now I can't. I don't know, the whole thing makes me kinda angry, but this is getting ranty by now.
Sorry if this seems disrespectful, this is just the way I feel right now.

I don't understand why 14. From what I remember, the average age is 13, so that's most people gone. Also, people could just not disclose their age and lie on the start screen. So really, you're allowing liars and lucky people to run. I would think a 12 year limit makes a bit more sense. I know 8 year olds aren't exactly what you'd want as a moderator, but what made this new rule even be put into place? Looking at all the 14 year olds I know, most of them are less mature than the 12-13 year olds. Illusionist was doing a fine job at being moderator, so I don't see what we did...
I have a feeling there will be riots, quitters, normal people trolling etc. soon...
