drawing programm trouble

been making this drawing program experimenting with an interface that you can show by pressing space wich hides after you change whatever settings you wanted to change. the idea is that you press space and a set of menu icons appear.

the problem now is, that the menu icon objects somehow stay behind the drawing itself.
obviously not a good thing.

anyone knows any workarouns? i cant be the first to encounter this problem

Behind the drawing itself? Are you using the pen for the image? It's not possible for the icons to be situated behind the drawing if that's the case.

Is the menu stamped? That would cause the problem.
