The problem with blocking.

Say you block someone, but they know they made a mistake and apologize. Well, tough beans for them, they can't do anything! So the situation remains unhelped. They feel sorry and can't apologize, and you don't know that they did. Big issue there.

Re: The problem with blocking.

When you mean blocking, do you mean the use of the ignore list?

Re: The problem with blocking.

Hmm, that is a really strange issue - and I guess it's not limited to just this site, but other site that use blocking lists as well.

At the same time, though, using the ignore list allows for people to block other users that are agitating them or making them feel uncomfortable (such as trolls, for example).

I wonder what would be a good alternative, then.

...No clue. If there was an apology system that would be a glaring hole, because the trolls would just troll via that.

Re: The problem with blocking.

I have a suggestion. You could make a way for the person to send one message after they have been blocked by you, but if you do not accept that message, whether because it is more trolling or you just really don't like that person, you could block them from using even that feature.

Maybe apology system via Scratch Team and/or moderator intervention?

Just a thought. The only thing it that this might just put more work pressure on the Scratch Team and mods. Not to mention you can't also force someone to forgive if they cannot.  hmm
