Re: Chrono Wars discussion thread

lets NOT do 1s1s or 3D.  a better quality game in 2D is better than a junky one in 3D, and the goal is not to make the code impressive, it's to make the product impressive.

I suggest a game like Modern Conflict (An iPod game, google it if you don't know what it is) I've wamted to make one before, but I didn't have all the skills needed.

Theme designers thoughts?

Hmm, I was thinking maybe a modern warfare game, or a maybe, like, space game, modeled after starcraft. Or a medieval one. I think it should be sort of styled after maybe a Warcraft game. Train different units out of different buildings,  have workers get recourses like gold, lumber, and stone. Or for a space game or modern warfare, ore, and lumber.

Other theme designers thoughts?

Re: Chrono Wars discussion thread

I think that in the game, you should choose from a number of races, or factions, and fight against CPU or MESHED players. (Please check out my other post if you scroll up a bit) for a space theme maybe,

Some type of alien race,
Some type of Machine or cyborg race.
Humans.

Re: Chrono Wars discussion thread

Hmm... I could help with some programming but theres not a group entitled
" Extra coding/programming" Because that would be awesome. I am pretty good at extra codes.
It could look like this

Extra Coding. These People are to add extra codes to make the game (movie?) run faster or whatever. You may join this group if you want to do some more stuff.

Re: Chrono Wars discussion thread

whatever we do, let's please not to an RPG.  those just get mind-numbing after a while.  lets make something that will keep people addicted (think a main mode or story mode, but then minigames too and a mesh multiplayer).

No. No RPG. It will be addicting, unique, and full of surprises so it doesn't get old.

Re: Chrono Wars discussion thread

I know I'm not in theme, but I would like to make a suggestion about the game, and this is probably the only one I will make, but I will reply to posts about the theme. I think we could make it a cross between warcraft, age of empires, and a game that me and some friends made up called E&E (Empires and Emperors) but unlike what necromaster said above, I think instead of training units and stuff out of buildings, you could (if it fit into 10gb)  You could have it be an empire~conquest sort of game,  there is a huge map that you pick a territory at the beginning. When you conquer a territory you designate it as recourse, research, or military. Military produces fighting units, recourse produces resources that you need to have to keep a territory (for example, you have to pay 5 food, 3 lumber and 3 coin per territory) and it has an income of X recourses and you use the extra to build defenses on your territories, and research, which allows you to advance in age (thus like age of empires( and train better units, defenses, and get better income. There would probably be opposing forces and barbarian territories  where opposing forces are large amounts of territories that are all an empire like yours designated as the three categories, and barbarian territories are territories that are single, and are always the same age as you, and are not very strong and are not designated as the three categories. Reply to this if you like this idea  big_smile

P.S. I never knew I could come up with a game idea like that...  wink
P.P.S. Wow, that was a bigger message than I thought it was, I just kept typing and typing...

Re: Chrono Wars discussion thread

In the beginning of this will we have someone say

"This game was brought to you by Scratch. Go to scratch.mit.edu for more games (movie?) like this one." if embedded somehwere else?"

What im trying to say is will we have a embedded version so people can upload it to their sites or whatever?

No, because the embed code automatically comes with a "learn more about this project" link.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I just thought of the idea when I was reading about other people's suggestions before, and I kinda figured I would forget it if I didn't post it... I don't really know what was going through my head at the time... Sorry...
By the way, I notice you also put me in theme designers, is that because you like my idea?  tongue
