Yup, OB is right! The next version will be bootable straight from a floppy, USB drive, or CD. And just like Windows-dependent SIMPL-DOS, bootable SIMPL is fully open source!

It will be out next month.

2. Good Job. Now the key is to get rid of vista once and for all everywhere! bwhahaha!1: Not really ATM, but if thecrazyguy forgets about what he/she said they would do, are you familiar with bash script? If you are, can you work on a Mac/Linux version of SIMPL?
1: No. I am not.
2: I can help with SIMPL-X tho! I know VB!

Bump.
WindozeNT is making a GUI for SIMPL-DOS, appropriately called SIMPL-GUI. I have already seen some pictures of it, and it is looking awesome!
Here is what he posted on the SIMPL-DOS website just a few days ago:
WindozeNT wrote:
SIMPL-GUI is a graphical frontend for SIMPL-DOS, intended for those who cower at the command-line. It is being developed by WindozeNT Software and is going to be open source. WindozeNT announced it on February 18th in the SIMPL-DOS network on Hamachi. SIMPL-GUI is still in early development, but should be completed by next month.
SIMPL-GUI is being designed like a "GUI version of SIMPL-DOS" that interacts with command line SIMPL by using an auto-typer that types commands in the SIMPL-DOS window. It is really easy to use and comes with many features, like a SAM app manager that lets you add, modify or remove SIMPL-Apps. There really isn't much information on it yet, but a developer preview of it will be released to the WindozeNT Software devs as well as to the SIMPL-DOS Team next week. Enjoy it soon!
Let's hope that everyone will enjoy it soon!
@bbbeb You're going to need to talk to OB about helping on SDX. I don't really have any control over SDX.

^ SIMPL-DOS Bootable actually doesn't work... I believe it needs a boot sector so the PCs can know what to load.
We've been over this, Windoze.
No, it doesn't need a boot sector, at least for floppies and USB Drives. CDs and HDDs do require that, however. SDB works just fine for me and mm55. I think your computer probably has a BIOS setting that deactivates booting from floppies and USB Drives, alot of computers are like that by default.
Anyway, SDB will be released soon, with a intructions text file, so we'll see if SDB will work for everyone else.

SIMPL-DOS is a new version of DOS that is meant to make getting stuff done on the computer quick and easy, without constant lockups, or slow GUI's. It is made with Batch Processing, a very simple to learn programming language, that comes with Windows, MS-DOS, and FreeDOS.
Currently, SIMPL only works in Windows 2000 and above, but we are making a bootable version. It will be released by March 2011.
Everyone is free to make their own versions of SIMPL, just give us credit for the original code/idea. The website for it is http://simpldos.webs.com
Tell me here if you like it, have some cool ideas for it, want to join the Dev Team,or anything else!
If you don't want to join the Dev Team, but wish to make pre-installed or SAM apps, you can join as an App Developer!DEV TEAM
I have never done dos, but I will use the source code!

@thebuilderdd I don't understand what you mean.
ipconfig = Show your ip address.
Since you don't understand, here:

You open the source by opening it in Notepad, or any other plain text editor.
I still don't get what you mean by "how do the commands work?" That could mean how we programmed them, how to use them, or about 100 different things.

I am starting to think we won't get SDB done in time. We might just release what we have as a beta, but it will be very glitchy... Anyone want to get a copy of SDB beta, and give feedback?
Really, all that's left to do is fix the text editor's illegal char checker. Everything else works fine (AFAIK).

Once i get a hold of my C++ skills again
I'll make a C++ version!
It'll come with more.....
....but it'll be a while. When i release version "Base", then i'll set the link.

This is very important:
Norton products block this and detect it as WS.Reputation.1
Please fix this -- I was eager to use SIMPL-DOS.
