It might be nice to allow users to waive the inclusion of the "based on" designation on any remixes based thereupon. For example, SonicPops did an excellent project that started with my silly cursor trail project, and now her project will forever by seen as a remix of something that forms only a trivial aspect of the entire program.

S65: What I mean by "waiving" is that there would be a checkbox that I, as the author of the program, could check so that I would indicate that I'm perfectly fine with everyone copying the project without any indication of credit. The default would be the same as it is now, where it says "based on" etc. Clearly you wouldn't want to do this on a massive project that you worked weeks on, but for quick scripts that you think are cool and want others to use freely, having the option to step into the background would be helpful.

Astute members of the Scratch community will note that, Hey, the Creative Commons License under which the Scratch Projects are distributed always includes the Attribution aspect, so how can you do this. My answer would be that checking the waiver box would essentially mean that you were releasing the project to the Public Domain, in the old skool sense

oh okay, I thought you meant uploaders themselves would be able to waive it. nvm, this is a good idea.

s65: Nope, as you suggest, that would be a major issue.

A good idea....I would still like to see the tracability maintained from the other direction. That is, the Remixes feature would remain intact so people can see what other projects the component project was included in. That way they can learn how to apply the component project.

Well this is a great idea! Giving the power to the sharers makes more sense then giving the power to the remixers.
