I'm writing a play for fun. I haven't figured out the genre yet, but I feel it's a tragedy.
It's not Shakespeare standard, but it's okay, I guess. Remember, this is my first play, so give me credit.
This is Act 1, Scene 1 of the play. To know the plot you need to read it yourself. I will add the rest of the play as I finish each scene. Anyways, enjoy it or not.
DJANGO
ACT 1
SCENE 1
Outside the castle.
Enter Vlad and Django, two vikings
Django approaches Vlad.
VLAD: I'm glad that you could come. The king wishes to see you.
DJANGO: I know. I came just when the news had reached me.
The two enter the castle.
The king awaits them.
KING: I trust your quest in vanquishing the Dragon was a success.
DJANGO: It was, thank you. I hope the same luck will be given to me in destroying the New Threat.
KING: I've been wanting to speak to you about the subject. I bring unfortunate news.
DJANGO: I see. What is it?
KING: Your father died in the middle of the journey.
DJANGO: What???
KING: I am truly sorry. It is all my fault. I sent him on the quest, and he died. I'm sorry...
DJANGO: What was the cause?
KING: We don't know for sure. We theorize that it was an assassin sent out by the King of the Dark Ones. His body has been recovered, but it is already buried. We postponed the funeral until your return.
DJANGO: Well, then. The funeral shall be held tomorrow.
Django sniffles.
KING: My boy, it is quite alright. He would have died for you anyhow, and he would have expected you to succeed where he had failed.
DJANGO: You're saying...that you want me to go on this journey, to bring an end to the New Threat?
KING: I don't want you to. Your father did.
