I came, I paddled, I saw

Well, yesterday, technically. I don't know why I'm posting this so late, but I went on a small canoeing trip yesterday. It involved a lot of rowing, so at one point I began singing the rowing song from Willy Wonka, and after we got back I had to make sure the canoe didn't get stolen for half an hour as the cars were brought back from the beginning of the "expedition".

There's no earthly way of knowing
which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
or which way the river's flowing
Is it raining is it snowing,
is a hurricane a blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing
so the danger must be growing
Are the fires of hell a-glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
YES
THE DANGER MUST BE GROWING
FOR THE ROWERS KEEP ON ROWING
AND THEY'RE CERTAINLY NOT SHOWING
ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING

Anyway so have any of you gone on any boat/canoe/kayak trips recently?

Re: I came, I paddled, I saw

Kind of. Last month, I went kayaking with my sister, and we were planning to row to a nearby island. But, I quickly found out that she hardly knew how to steer, and she almost crashed into me eight times, so I abandoned the idea. Later, I went kayaking with my younger sister and younger cousin, and they were both way better at kayaking than my older sister.

Nope
If you're going somewhere by canoe, you would normally have to row there before seeing anything

Re: I came, I paddled, I saw

I came, I paddled, I saw is in the wrong order.

The original ancient Latin phrase was "Veni, vidi, vici", meaning, "I came, I saw, I conquered".

People have made lots of spoofs, and in this case it would be "I came, I saw, I paddled".

An "idiom" Is a well-used phrase, sometimes an expression.  Such as "it's raining cats and dogs."

Wikipedia definition;

An idiom (Latin: idioma, “special property”, f. Greek: ἰδίωμα — idiōma, “special feature, special phrasing”, f. Greek: ἴδιος — idios, “one’s own”) is an expression, word, or phrase that has a figurative meaning that is comprehended in regard to a common use of that expression that is separate from the literal meaning or definition of the words of which it is made.

Idiot isn't really a swear word so much as it is an insult.  hmm

And I believe the term came before the insult.
