Sometimes, depends on what the ad says. Try to say something that will catch people's eyes  smile

Re: how well do the advertisement section of forums work?

As militarydudes said, try making something that will catch people's attention. For example, saying "My new game is thing x" isn't that attention-grabbing, is it? But "Can you master the art of doing thing y?" sounds pretty appealing. There's a ton of guides on how to write great ads in the Show and Tell forum - just look in the "Sticky" topic at the top  smile

Make sure to make your topic interesting and detailed enough. People aren't likely to view your project if the entire ad is just a link or "plz view my project" and a link.

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Make sure it's eye catching and give them an incentive to click. Can you do, I made ___, it has ___ features.

Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

Re: how well do the advertisement section of forums work?

The Show and Tell forum has worked exceedingly well for me, but I've heard others complain that it doesn't help at all. Just make a title that will catch the eye, but not "OMG OMG THE BESTEST GAME EVR LOLOLOL", or people will get fed up easily. Give a good and informative project description, and highlight the best features of your project. You'll get more views in no time  smile
