Riding Shotgun
I've been thinking- why is riding in the front called riding shotgun? I know it's really random, but still...

cuz if you were the guy with the shotgun that's where you'd be riding to cover the driver
EDIT: it's from like the past where someone needed to use their shotgun to save the driver and passengers from bandits.
