Re: Which pokemon starter do you usually start with?

I used to start with water, but I realized that a perfect in game team doesn't need a water pokemon (That is, if you can cheat and get a Raikou to learn surf XD), so now I pick the fire type most of the time.

Actually, it depends on the region.

Kanto=Charmander
Johto=Totodile
Hoenn=Mudkip
Sinnoh=Chimchar

Re: Which pokemon starter do you usually start with?

I usually pick the one best for beating the gyms in the region.
I pick them based on that and my favorites.

Kanto:  Bulbasaur is the best for early gyms
Johto: Cyndaquil because it's awesome and it's the recommended Johto starter
Hoenn: Mudkip cuz it ROCKS! Plus it's pretty good against early gyms.
Sinnoh: Chimchar is a good choice against most of the gyms except Pastoria.

In SoulSilver my Typhlosion is level 85! Beat that!

Re: Which pokemon starter do you usually start with?

Normally water, but this is how it goes...

Kanto: I choose Squirtle. Second choice is Charmander.
Johto: Any is good, but best is Totodile and second Cyndaquil.
Hoenn: Torchic is first. Second is Mudkip. But all are good anyways.
Sinnoh: Piplup comes first. Second is by far Turtwig. Can't stand Chimchar.
Isshu: Mijumaru definately. Second is either Tsutarja or Pokabu, but I'm leaning towards Tsutarja.

Kanto: Charmander (Don't kid yourselves, Charizard is easily the most awesome Pokemon out of the first game)
Johto: Totodile
Hoenn: Mudkip
Sinnoh: Turtwig

Where did FMT go.

Around this time he'd be talking about how level doesn't matter.

Kanto: Squirtle
Johto: Chikorita
Hoenn: Treeko (SO I HERD YOU LIEK TREEKOZ)
...that's it. I don't play the new games.

But if I DID have Diamond or Pearl, I would probs pick Piplup.

Re: Which pokemon starter do you usually start with?

The only game I have is FireRed (I know, ancient, amiright? -_-), and I always use Bulbasaur, because grass-type pwns against the early gym leaders. But I am getting Pokemon Black when it comes out on the ninth, and I'll probably use Pokabu or Tsutarja.

Yawn, another boring text signature. I should really make something better.

The people who would flame you for choosing the most difficult Pokemon to use would be idiots. I'm a personal advocate of using the more difficult option as it's more fun.

Kanto-Charmander
Johto-Chikorita
Hoenn-Torchic but I regret it
Sinnoh-I hate them all, but I chose Turtwig because of it's last evo

Re: Which pokemon starter do you usually start with?

What I would choose now:
Kanto: Bulbasaur
Jhoto: Cyndaquil
Hoenn: Treeko
Sinnoh: Turtwig

What I did choose:
Kanto: Charmander/Butterfree(I used it like a starter)
Jhoto: Chickorita/Tododile
Hoenn: Mudkip
Sinnoh: Turtwig/Piplup

Actually, now that I think about it, I think I would choose CHARMANDER for Kanto. Or PIKACHU(in yellow  tongue )

In terms of starters most people think so.

Dragon and Steel are the best overall types though.

Not when you're stuck on the bug gym, with only a Chickorita, a Ghastly, a Sentret, an Onix, and a Pidgey. Oh, and a Togepi.
