Most of my friends are playing it, and I have the cards. I think it's okay. SO I'm going to go with the opinions of all the people I know. I don't know you people, but I might as well ask xD

Well, don't just play it because your friends are. I, myself, had friends that were (Yes, were. They are no longer interested in the game) big pokemon fans, but I never joined them in their obsession, and we were still fine.
And if you DO want to play it, then no one's stopping you.

Once you get in, you'll be so interested in it. Overtime you lose interest. I'm not into it anymore.

Yeah, you should to understand their speech. Like, if your friends are like, "I caught a darkrai!! yeah!!" you can understand why that's so special.

True, but there reasons for yes AND no:
YES:
I think that pokemon is a fun and challenging game. I used to a big fan when I was younger, but didn't understand the game. I already a bunch of pokemon cards and I know how to play. I could play with my friends and challenge my dad, who is really great at the game.
NO:
I don't want to start spending all my money on getting the same cards and have no one trade with me. It could interrupt my school life, and I don't want to have to go through and buy a whole bunch of stuff just to learn the rules of the game and whatnot.

Pokemon games are fun, but they could really distract you from other stuff, like school and your friends.
If you think you have enough free time, go ahead and try it. If you like it, keep playing, unless you find that it starts taking up too much time

I'll say yes. I like Pokemon, but I'm totally obsessed with it and I don't spend every second of the day playing it. I think it's just a fun game.
Huh? Contradiction in the second sentence.

I think she meant "I like Pokemon, but I'm not totally obsessed with it."

I think, you should try it and see if you like it, and if you have enough time, GO FOR IT!

I think, since your friends like, you should try to borrow it and try it. If you like it, keep going. You might want to stop collecting the cards though, thats where all the money goes(no offense).

I remember 1st and 2nd grade where people "smuggled" cards into school and tried to play in secret and everyone was obsessed except me. I once tried playing with one of my best friend who actually knew the rules and beat him in like five minutes. My first Pokemon game ever.

Oh, I don't collect cards. Most of them are my dads, and the rest my dad bought in hopes of us playing with them x3

I don´t like Pokemon, I was just looking for an image to use, and I liked the image. Notice I picked random Pokemon and got the color, as only Cnor has it, and I. Well, nobody else I know of.

Yes for the games, no for the cards.
Contrary to DaGamez' statement, Pokemon is not a copy of other games. It is in fact quite the opposite. Pokemon was the first game to involve collecting a group of creatures and training them up to do battle against others, and it was and still is the series which popularise and define the genre. Other games, such as Spectrobes and Fossil Fighters, have tried to get comparable success with a similar formula but have failed, in terms of both sales and lasting impact. Pokemon is a game which can be enjoyed by both casual and core gamers. Casual gamers can play it for the relative ease of the single player modes and the abundant multiplayer which can be found in the huge fanbase. For the more skilled and dedicated gamers, Pokemon has a hidden strategic background more expansive than any other game. You can pick up and play Pokemon easily; but the likelihood of the average player understanding Pokemon to its fullest extent is slim, because of the huge amount of content beneath the surface of every Pokemon game.
As for the cards, I would say no, as it requires a lot more money in the long run, and in terms of competitive multiplayer it's significantly worse (Mainly because of no WiFi, there is still a big competitive scene for Pokemon TCG but the chances are you have to travel to get involved).
