Miscellaneous = Twitter
We can try to fix it. As long as we all promise to be productive.

I agree. This forum used to be great just for little things, but now every little thing gets posted here. I'd rather have it the old way, or no misc. at all.

What we can do is to make Miscellaneous better.I said it wouldn´t work, I suggested it and coolstuff said he talked with moderators and NO.
The tables have really turned. The people who fought to red rid of the Miscellaneous before are trying to protect it now while the people who wanted to keep it or couldn't care less now want it gone.

Project Ideas serves well...
But who has a case of inspiration to share? I don't.
As for socializing, the TBG is good. All "vacationeers" I can remember have fallen in love there.

These days... I have to agree.
Yet... Other people live on misc. It's part of the community... Let's not ditch it.
I enjoyed the time I spent posting in the misc. That period's over.
Oh, and you made two posts in misc so far today.
Where would we be without it?

You know, I´m actually for this one. Or at least moderate it better.
I'd love it if you would expand on this! What would better moderation look like? Can you be more specific?

I agree.

I would rather share that type of information (stuff like going on holiday) on a place like Twitter that's meant for that stuff instead of sharing it on a programming website where it's completely irrevalent.

And most the time people do not even use it for that.
Is just people saying "hi" "lol my posts 1336" "i quit" "lets be happy" "100 more posts untill 1K" "life sucs" "this made my post go up by 1"

New Idea. Tell me what you things guys. Suggestions are welcomed.
Split the Misc in seperate forums, like we did for Inspiration and More.
The heading would be like:
Miscellaneous
-TV Shows, Music and Other Media
-Video Games, The Internet and Other Technology
-School and Other Life Style
(just some rough topics i thought of off the top of my head.)
TA-DA! No "General" or "Off Topic" sections for people to use twitter. Users will only be able to post a topic that is relevant to one of the ones above.
Opinions? Suggestions? Please Share.

I don't like the idea... it'll still be a chatroom.

it probably will still be chatish- but it may be as we're going to get.

Add me please...
Just a random idea: Maybe we should restart it? delete all topics, and have someone post some new, IMPROVED, guidelines. See where that goes...

Personally, I think it should move to a separte site within the scratch website, like what happened to text basesed games. After looking at the pointlessness of that, put me on the list but have that I want a new site for it.

I don't have a problem with the miscellaneous forum, I have a problem with the topics in it. Notice my "Java Exploits" topic (I think the second topic in 08jackt's image). That isn't DIRECTLY related to Scratch, but it is still constructive and might contribute to a user's knowledge of technology. In my opinion, that's what the Scratch Team intended the miscellaneous forum be used for. (Did that last sentence make sense? Help me out! )

I think the rules should be stricter.
For example: A thread like "Anyone have a (video game) friend code? I'll battle you!" should be allowed, but something thats likely to turn into flamebait (EX: "I QUIT!!!!!" or "Petition against ____") shouldnt...
Offline
Closing miscellaneous means there would be spam in other topics. Miscellaneous is strictly for topics that don't go in any other section, not for off-topic. I think the mods should just go on a full clean up and take out the random/off-topic threads, and the rules should be made stricter.
"Use this forum if you are not certain if the topic is directly related to Scratch. "
Notice how it doesn't say:
"Use this forum for off-topic threads"
