I slipped the key slowly into the handle of my front door. The darkness of the night seemed to creep up on me, envelop me. It was so thick, almost artificial, unnatural... I opened the door, walking into my home. In here, the darkness seemed impenetrable - nothing could be seen, and it didn't seem like any flashlight, no matter how strong, could do anything to light things up. I slowly put down my heavy hiking boots, grip, grip, grip, on the hardwood floor to find the light switch. My arms outstretched, then, finally, my search had ended! The tip of my index finger had brushed upon the switch which I so desired to locate. Eagerly, I flipped it on. Nothing. Annoyed,  I kept at trying to turn the lights on. Finally, a flicker - the lights in my house always flickered before they turned on. A flicker. Was that something, something in the darkness? It was green, disfigured, grotesque in the low light. Another flicker, stronger this time, revealed TWO creatures! The figure of the one approaching me was obviously human, yet walking sideways, wearing green... The next flick was a blur - there was another creature, no, two more, three... Slowly I backed away, tripping and landing on my glass coffee table. Crash! Ow, I thought, but luckily no pieced of glass had ricocheted and hit me, at least not through my amazingly thick, warm, uncomfortable tuxedo. Stunned by the impact, my limbs all felt lame, bent off in strange positions, except for one, my neck. I managed to loll up my head, to look at the figures. The lights were on now. "Mario?" I said...

I agree--this is VERY helpful on a programming site.  I mean, who cares about modding Scratch or showing new people around or making suggestions for the website when you can talk about Weegee?  Really.
