Ah.
Our own obsession with post counts might also be a cause.

My favorite year was 2007. Everyone knew everyone, almost literally! If something happened, everyone knew about it! Back then, the 10th highest poster had 150 posts. People like The-Whiz, Lucario621, archmage, and a lot more were active and were basically friends with everyone. If you made a good project, you would get discovered, no matter what. Then the dark times fell on us. 2008 came. Along with it, came many things. Spam and trolls, all together. People couldn't keep up, and a ton of great users left. When 2009, all the problems that we had before got worse. More spam came to the forums with the TBG and the Inspiration and More topic. It seems that every year that we go on, it just gets...different.

I'd say that the forums aren't as dedicated to Scratch now...

Well then, we should delete misc [colour=gainsboro]Just kidding[./colour]
And also, I was wondering why there never were any rules posted. I think I saw a guideline on how to post, but I don't think anyone else has. We need one for the misc, because people think it's for anything not related to Scratch, when it's actually just for when your post doesn't fit in any of the other 3 categories [colour=gainsboro]This means you, frequent post highlighter[./colour]

...
I feel that Scratch isn't really a programming website anymore... it feels more of a chat place that is only distinctly related to programming.

Eh - now it's to let people socialize.
Which is fine, of course...
I still think the TBG works better though. I've made lots of good friends there.

I remember I always use to think that there was a bit of scratch forums circle. we weren't necessarily were friends, but we posted a lot and got to know each other. tones of people from that "circle" seems to have left though.
users in forums circle of the top of my head: tonks, fmt, rhy, ect. those kind of people
i don't know...

I remember when I joined, I actually kind of liked the website. There weren't so many prank projects and worthless junk on the front page. And since just last year, the forums have become WAY less dedicated to Scratch, and more centered around misc. Some claiming it as their "home"
But this kind of thing is inevitable with all the kids coming here. And it's not their fault, they're kids. They won't be programing advanced stuff like we do, helping people out in the forums, etc. They're going to want to draw stuff, remix simple stuff, chat, and other things we would prefer them not to do, but we'd do to if we were their age.
It'll keep getting worse with all the kids being introduced to Scratch at young ages in school but hey, if that's the way it's going to be, then we just have to deal with it

No, that's the entire internet.

True...we should all unite and make a Scratch group and release awesome games so there are some good projects on here. I haven't seen many good ones (no offence guys!) recently...but that Sonic R game was pretty cool.

It's neutral.
Because schools are teaching with scratch, more younger people will come...
1. More useless suggestions that have already been answered
2. More useless threads (already answered, but the person can't bother to search)
3. Lack of understanding what is possible (like speech recognition in scratch NOW, a block that makes accounts etc.)
4. Possibly reducing tolerance for violence, language (if this happens I will make sure everybody is depressed because of it)
5. More kids who used scratch before it was taught in school get annoyed from random kids bugging them about how to make good games
6. More ignorant people who say "blood is bad! All blood should be banned!" (seriously, you're alive because of blood and this is how you repay it?)
