I hate when people say "Check out my projects they r really awesome BTW this stinks kthnksbai"
All over my projects. They should be taught a lesson. We should have a button that says "Flag as spam" like flag as innapropriate. They would get a message saying that they shouldn't spam on projects and give a link to the forum topic about advertising in show and tell.
I don't feel right using the flag as innapropriate for spam, because it's not nessacarily innapropriate. And if I use the delete button, nothing happens except the comment is gone.
I hope this idea is implemented as it would help scratchers learn new ways to get on the front page besides spamming on other people projects.
Thank you for your time and scratch on!
PS: You can vote for it here: http://suggest.scratch.mit.edu/forums/6 … pam-button

that would be really nice. Once when one of my projects was curated, quite a few people spammed. If the spam is on your own projects, you can delete them. Near where it says " reply " and "flag as inappropriate" there should be a little x. If you click that, you can remove the comment. I would vote, but I'm out of votes . I support though

I think it would be nice if when you clicked on "flag as inappropriate", you would get a range of tickboxes - it could say something like:
Flag this comment because:
[] it's mean
[] it's spam
[] there's inappropriate language/swearing
[] other - (please type a reason in the box below)
There could be more or less boxes to tick, if any categories can be merged/added. Then, it would be clearer to people who don't use the "flag as inappropriate" system often just what "inappropriate" is... And, as you said, using "flag as inappropriate" for spam doesn't seem right sometimes... on another site I used when I was younger called it "complain about this post" - which worked well, because it's quite a general title...

Chrischb suggested something along these lines a while back... But I'm a bit more of a fan of Wolfie1996's solution

Let's not get too off-topic now, okay?

That was my fault... I wondered if anyone would support the second mock-up in that post, because it looks similar to the first one
Anyway - I'll go and see how many votes I have left, and, if I have some left, I'll vote on this

I like Wolfie's suggestion, but I still don't like the spam suggestion. People are just trying to spread the news about their projects around . How would you feel if you were incredibly unpopular and had practically 0 views? And you tried in Show and Tell and very few viewed it? Thus, it doesn't hurt to just tell some people by commenting. You may find it annoying, but if you click their project, it would make their day . If you really hate it, than just ignore it. The only real way it would be considered spam is if it was commercial spam.

I've sometimes seen "spammish" comments, where the user just posts "gEWSRGHDEHRTEHqaqgasggewTR lololololololol!!!!" or something similar, over and over again... that's the sort of spam that annoys me a little...

There are definitely multiple types of spam. I think that any spam should be strongly discouraged, however. I'm ok with fair promotion of your project, such as making a meaningful comment on someone's project and also giving a link to your project with a similar idea. However, I strongly dislike pure spam comments, and feel that these comments backfire on the user, as I deliberately avoid spammers' projects.
Anyway, I agree with Wolfie's idea completely. It sounds like a good way to make the report and review process much better. Priority could be put on more serious offenses, such as highly inappropriate projects and comments over spam.

Posting on topics (especially anti-spam topics) older than six months while having the post be irrelevant to the topic is called necroposting and is generally looked down upon in the community. Please refrain from doing this again.
