Spoilers

I think there should be spoiler alerts on the scratch forums. Like:
[spoiler]Hi[/spoiler]

That would come up as:

Spoiler Alert [Show]

If you click the Show button, it will show. Then it will look like:

[Hide]
Hi

I think.

I really want this.

Re: Spoilers

Hmm, I'd support this I guess, but why is it really important? Gainsboro is OK.

Why use Gainsboro when you could just use:

Code:

[color=transparent]hi[/color]

Then it doesn't show up in quotes, and (in some browsers) can not be highlighted.  big_smile

See! This is total proof of what I was saying. So, if you didn't believe me, then you should now!

What's the point of making text that no one can read? (I guess you could quote, but still.tongue

Re: Spoilers

Spoiler alert is better. It looks nicer, its quicker, and people would KNOW its spoiler because its a spoiler alert instead of it just being invisible. And transparent can be highlighted accidentally, and plus, everyone highlights posts with big empty spaces.

Re: Spoilers

I like [color=#DFDFDF][/color] better than the spoiler idea. The spoiler thing would be too noticiable  tongue
Also, with the color trick, just try to put it in a spot like a line break or break it up around the post.

With Internet Explorer, transparent text shows up as black color text. It gets really ugly when you hide an insult towards your enemy and they use IE.

Why can't people just use colored text to hide things? It's so much less work than having the Scratch Team make the BBCode.  hmm

Re: Spoilers

It would be a hassle when quoting - you would have to change the color before posting.  hmm

I think it would be nice, but not entirely necessary... :S

Re: Spoilers

Why is everyone so against this? Remember, it's for hiding spoilers, not secret text. Say someone decides to post how a video game you haven't finished ends. You wouldn't want that to be spoiled, would you? If they put it in a spoiler tag, you could choose not to. With Invisible text it's usually not easy to tell if it's a spoiler, "hidden" text, or just a huge space. Plus, it's built into most forums, you just need to enable it, so it wouldn't be any work for the Scratch Team.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

It can be enabled just like that?  yikes
If so, I support!

Re: Spoilers

I don't think this is necessarily.

As you know, you can just to gainsboro and lavander, or as I prefer, #DEDFDF and #F1F1F1. This works perfectly fine, because you could use it like this:

example:

To see the spoiler for the game, highlight the text below!

<insert spoiler text or rick roll>

So that leads me to another point - it could be easily abused a lot. Whereas for just doing text-color, as you know, people don't abuse it much, out of habit.

So it's completely unnecessary.

EDIT: @hmnwilson: You're wrong about most forums having it automatically enabled. Only a few forums that I know, that are all professional customized forums with big communities,  have an extension to do so. I'm pretty sure that you're incorrect.

Re: Spoilers

It would be helpful, and if its easy for the scratch team it should be done, but for now we can just do things like:

                                            Highlight below for spoiler!

In the end of the game, you get squished by the credits
