The following are ways to make your user account more popular, and stand out, so that people will most likely look at your projects.
1.) Have a strange or different username. People might say, "Hey! That guy's username is so funny!" and click on his username. Another hint for usernames: Don't put too many numbers in it. For instance, there is a popular user who many people refer to as RHY. RHY has many numbers at the end of his/her username, which I have not been able to memorize. I have wanted to view his/her projects sometimes, but have not been able to find his/her page.
2.) Profile Pics! These are realy, really fun. Profile pictures can be added by clicking "Change Picture' on your page. You should be able to upload most images. Having an animated gif as a picture helps too. A gif is a picture that is animated. Scratch allows gifs as your profile picture. Here is a gif that I made for example: You can try out using gifs as a profile picture with this if you would like. Another tip for pictures is to make a strobing or colorful picture. The human eye will be most likel attracted to that icon, and maybe click on it. I also suggest not to make a profile picture something very grey. People probably won't take a second to look at it.
3.) Thumbnails! A thumbnail is the picture of your project that shows up on the scratch website to people before they look at the project itself. Sometime, the thumbnail attracts viewers. Here's how to make a thumbnail. When you are all done with your project, go to one of the more colorful or attractive parts of your project. Then, click share. The thumbnail of your project will always be the image on the stage at the time of sharing, so keep in mind how to use thumbnails. That is the first thing about your project that anyone online will see. Kind of like a first impression.
Well, that's about it. Enjoy!

Good, but that can be abused a lot.....

I think you should change your section on "Misleading Thumbnails." The point is not to make a thumbnail that makes your project look like something it isn't; the point is to give it a good looking preview. I'm definitely more likely to click on a project that has a professional-looking thumbnail, but not if it's too flashy.

But still, the misleading thumbnail is used a lot

You are actually right... I'll delete it

I didn't mean the entire idea was bad, I just meant that you described it in a way that would promote causing your project to look different than what it was. Creating your own thumbnail is a great idea; it makes your project look attractive and more professional. You just shouldn't use it to mislead people as you were suggesting.

A nice addition to the forums

I've seen that you used to have an article on "misleading" thumbnails - I don't think it's a bad idea. Maybe you should just have something that makes the thumbnail look nice. See, my Scape project uses ghosting a lot, which unfortunately doesn't affect the thumbnail, making it's tile on my My Stuff page (and previously on the front page) look rather ugly. As an alternative, you can just hide them and tell them to show "when Green Flag" is clicked - making the thumbnail look nice and clean.
Otherwise, great tips! They'll definitely help out the newest users

It's already in, so it's already being abused a lot, according to your logic

I'll move this to show and tell, seeing as it's a guide for getting more views ^^

Yes, but still, I think that it would be wrong to put in, as you had said.

I guess I will take that advice and rewrite the thumbnail thing.
