tobi111: Until I have sorted out some remaining glitches try avoiding special characters (esp. apostrophes and possibly German Umlaute) in any file- and pathnames (projects, icons and Scratch2Exe folder) when using Scratch2Exe.

Awesome, I downloaded it (Scratch2Exe).
Is it supposed to make a shortcut on my desktop using the .ico file or is that something else?
Great Job! I'll definitely use this!
Downloaded chirp, and it asked for a .image file... where can I find it? I chose the Scratch image file and it just took me to Scratch

fbboi999: Thank you for testing Scratch2Exe and Chirp! I'm glad that Scratch2Exe works for you, thank you for letting me know
Scratch2Exe compiles the icon files into the target exe-file, it doesn't make shortcuts.
If you're using Chirp on a Windows computer and launch it using the shortcut on your desktop it shouldn't request an image file at all. Instead this sounds like you may have another (duplicate) image file in the Scratch folder. FYI: I named the Chirp image file "Chirp.remix" to avoid confusion among both images.

Ok I'll re-download it when I get home, I think I may have messed something up.
Anyway, great job once again!

fixed it! I was having trouble finding the .remix file because I put the program in a Scratch2 folder instead of the one I usually use, and now it works great!

What about one to do it for Macs as Apps?

bugfix in Scratch2Exe
I just fixed a tiny albeit very annoying glitch in Scratch2Exe: Vista's paranoid UAC-security thing used to require you to execute all compiled Scratch project-exe's as admin. I changed it so now these exe's can be run under Vista on a regular user execution level, without those nagging confirmation/password dialog boxes popping up first.
I advise everyone using Scratch2Exe to download and install it again, even if you're currently not using Vista, so your exe-files will be able to run hassle-free under every Win32 version.
[addendum: This fix makes Scratch2Exe actually somewhat useful, because it lets you run Scratch projects on "locked down" Vista computers which have neither Scratch installed nor internet/java access, and on which you have no admin rights: Just put the compiled Scratch project onto a portable/pluggable media carrier and run it directly from there]

mine will convert then when i open it. It says bad header and will not work and in the top right it says chirp and i dont have chirp! why is this?

Hi frogy17500,
Scratch2Exe currently works only with projects created in Scratch 1.2.1 or earlier. If you're compiling Scratch v 1.3 (or later) projects you will get the "bad header" error message. I'm planning to update Scratch2Exe sometime soon, so hang on!

update
I updated Scratch2Exe, so now it works with all Scratch projects (1.3.1 and before). You can download Scratch2Exe here: http://chirp.scratchr.org/dl/ChirpCompiler-setup.exe
Please be aware that compiled projects only run on Windows XP or later, and that the compiler has some issues with pathnames containing apostrophes. Also, please note that Chirp itself is not yet updated to be compatible with Scratch 1.3.
JSO: Feel free to use it for discScratchR.
Enjoy!

Thanks Jens
For discScratchR I'll be using a modified Scratch image, not the compiler.
I am able to do it my self. (The easiest thing is always quitting, no errors will happen afterwards
)
I just replace the whole exitPresentation thing with
^Smalltalk quitPrimitive
I learned that from the Chirp code...

Thank you very much Jens. You always giving to this community the best. I think the future of this program will be long lasting, although it have been born in the environment of non commercial people. With little touch everyday, this program has become new standard that have been accepted worldwide.

I've released anew version of discScracthr compatible with 1.3.1! The link is in my signature.
DiscScratchr is a different application then Scratch2Exe, but it is related and you might check if it fits your needs.

Hi ferret10 and GoldenAxe,
are you having these problems with Scratch2Exe or with discScratchr?
Jens,
I modified my post above, on second thought it looked more like spam, sorry.

oi (hi) Jens, I'm using vista and it compiled just fine, there's only two things I dislike, the icon file doesn't work (but then again I was using 50x50 not 32x32) and that a strange scratch window pops up when I run the new compiled scratch applet, but suddenly closes, and the game runs...

that happens to me, too, but I think that's supposed to be normal...my projects still run normally anyway

hi, me again. It turns out the icons I was using were made on mspaint and therefor not compatible, but I downloaded a random icon editor, made it 16x16 and it works!
