Re: Smart fun- a MMOG

you can upload it to our site http://pantherprogramming.weebly.com and you do that by emailing it and any files you want to go with it to the email given on the site. You will have to register your email to your scratch username first though using our form (to stop people impersonating others or uploading dangerous things). Don't worry, the email isn't given away and it's stored OFFLINE so it's totally safe.

Re: Smart fun- a MMOG

I thought you said that it needs to be under 5mb. It's 48.

BTW I'm going to be on vacation, but I still can use the forums. But I'll have to do it on my DSi. So until they come out with a HTML editor and Scratch for the DSi, I can't do the website or the slideshow.

Re: Smart fun- a MMOG

I need someone to mod the Panther source code so it opens on presentaition mode and closes when you press the back button. Also it needs to run a project on start. This is basically making it an exe file.
Thanks to whoever can do this.

Re: Smart fun- a MMOG

Okay I figured out the server. Not how to code it. Just the structure.
So, there would be 2 webpages, one has all the user info (username, pass, stars, worksheets, ect.) and the other containing the multiplayer info (current games, online users, ect.) When you create an account, the info is added to the user server. Whenn you get another star or worksheet the corrisponding info is changed. That makes it so when you type in a correct username and pass it reads the number of stars and worksheets and updates the corrispoding variables.
-majormax
Sorry I didn't do the multiplayer explanation, but I have to go play this game.

BTW 100th post!

Re: Smart fun- a MMOG

I have a couple of questions.

1. Is this educational? (I need to know!)

2. Is there a way to chat? (complicated, but useful)
*I can help with that.

And....

3. Are the worksheets games or fill-in-the-blanks?

Back in my day.... there were no laws that censored the internet... now, there are.... nah.

I realized that I should put up an example worksheet...

1. Yeah, it is educational

2. I'd love for you do do chat on the multiplayer games (once I get to it) Just maybe have it so it's pre-written messages (sorta like club penguin or neopets key quest)

3.Well, the worksheets are sorta a cross between games and worksheets. Like for typing, you have to write a short sentence (getting progressively harder with stars) in 10-5 seconds.
-majormax
BTW I'm home from the Outer Banks so I can type faster (and more often).

Re: Smart fun- a MMOG

Here is the whole of what the game is like.
When a school gets a copy they can use config mode. Config lets you set the min and max numbers for multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. After setting those you load spelling tests (from files). Then you create student accounts so when they log in they get those settings. Then you can choose to disable certain learning features (such as multiplication or spelling).  Using a CYOB block you save the game. It sets a variable that says if you have configured (so it doesn't have config mode.) If you are a student you can download the game in student mode (without config). If you want you can do this multiple times to create Grade __ accounts, each having different settings. (you don't wan't first graders doing fifth grade work (or vice versa)) more coming soon.

Alright. For the chat, use these scripts:
1. Make a list
2. Make a variable
3. Make a script that says when *key* pressed
4. Make it ask 'Chat' and wait
5. Set the answer to (chat sensor value)
6. Make it so that once it's done, it posts (join [username ][chat sensor value] to the list
make the list show!
7. Add another variable named 'CheckChat'.
8.Make it do forever
     if not(chat sensor value)=(checkChat)
add (chat sensor value) to list.
set checkChat to (chat sensor value)
*key* can be any key you arent using!  big_smile
There. Chat! or do you want me to personally add it?

EDIT:http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bbbeb/1266655 thats the sample one. just adjust it for your needs! (mesh has to be enabled  big_smile )
EDIT2: add a delete all of Chat into the top of the when green flag clicked and above forever block.

^^do you want this?

Just to let you know, all the chat will use PHP. So sorry, but no.
