Tetris in Scratch!

http://i29.tinypic.com/jhyan5.jpg
lol  (As you can see, I was just playing around with it and utterly failing at the game itself...  lol ) (Note: this image was edited from the original, it will not be that tidy when you run it  sad )

To get Tetris in Scratch, turn fill screen off, then make sure you have plenty of room (move the Scratch frame to the bottom). Click anywhere in the gray area to bring up the World menu, then click "new morph..." then go to the "Tetris" menu and click "Tetris". Then place your Tetris window wherever you want it. Beware, the Tetris window is very weird with resizing, so you may want to middle-click it and use the "Grow me" button to resize it. Use the left/right arrow keys to move the block, the up/down arrow keys to rotate the block, and the spacebar to move the block all the way down. Enjoy!  big_smile

Or delete the ScratchFrame.

Yawn, another boring text signature. I should really make something better.

First of all, it's not tetris in Scratch, it's tetris in Squeak. Second of all, you can resize it by right clicking on it (Windows - alt-click) and dragging the little yellow thing on the bottom right corner.

I just called it Tetris in Scratch because I didn't know if the original Squeak VM had it. And the backboard and the Tetris playing area are two different object... thingies. Look at this pic: http://i31.tinypic.com/b7x9vt.jpg The playing area is in the corner, and it prevents the whole backboard from being resized. But when you move the playing area, then the backboard gets rid of all the extra gray space and cannot be resized out again. And when you click the quit button while it's in this state, the backboard disappears, but the playing area remains. (I'm not saying there isn't a way to get rid of it, though.) Right-click does not activate the other buttons in non-source-code Scratch, and alt-click does middle click (which does activate the button thingies in non-source-code Scratch). Try this and see for yourself.

EDIT: Apparently, right-click just drags Tetris, whereas with other windows, it brings up the buttons. Disregard my other comments of the like.

Oh yeah. It also plays movies, but it shows them at an EXTREMELY LARGE size!

It isn't in Scratch. It is a Squeak! morph found in the version of Squeak! that Scratch and the morph are in.

Re: Tetris in Scratch!

To resize it, alt/command-click it until the red letters say Tetris. Then drag the yellow button in the bottom right corner (grow me).

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile
