Captcha! Code and E-mail Verification

When people sign up, they should have to answer a Captcha! Codeand verify a valid email. Parents or otherwise.

Well, I don't see the purpose of Captcha as we don't get any bots around here.

But email would be great  smile  I think we're working on something like this, actually.

Oh, well at least the e-mail works. But I am pretty sure I found a bot advertising advertising your business. XD

Re: Captcha! Code and E-mail Verification

Why is the email necessary? It's sad to think that even an edu site has to come to this...email verification.
*sigh. 60 sec rule*

Error:Signature could not load. Please wait for an indefinite amount of time, until you realize you're gullible and go off to look for another potentially interesting signature to stare at.

Well, it's unfortunately necessary to do so to prevent trolling. Emails are still required at the moment, there's just no verification - so it wouldn't be much of a difference from what we have now.

Re: Captcha! Code and E-mail Verification

I actually like the idea of email verification. This is because it is a kids website, and just take lego.com for example. You need an email for that. And I'd say that website is just about as protective for children as scratch.mit.edu. (The only think about lego.com is that on their message boards, mods have to approve EVERY SINGLE POST before it is shown, so it's kind of like there's no negativity or something like that, and it's only like a kids place. So very boring).

I hate sites with that system. I went to one, it could take up to five days to get posted and sometimes they just randomly didn't post them because they were too busy.
