Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

Yipes! I'm so sorry that I didn't get that report! I was away in Florida all week, and we had no internet, based mostly upon the fact that roaming charges are $10/MB on my dad's phone, which is utterly insane.

I've not been terribly involved with the process of this request, and I'm not sure if it was even taken care of, but I thank you so much for your patience. My apologies!

No problem coolstuff, fullmoon was very helpful in your stead and explained that you were away! You did miss quite a lot while you were gone so I will fill you in  smile

A new Scratch account called YourLocalBlockLib has been created and the passwords sent to SSBBM, pecola1, theSuccessor, meowmeow55 and scimonster who can now access the account and make changes and update it when I'm busy. The account was very kindly promoted to full scratcher early by fullmoon and I believe lighnin, and the library has been moved to the new thread

http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=58790.

I-Topic status has been moved too! This means I've appointed Scratch's first team of librarians  big_smile

Thanks so much for all your support, I'm sure I'll be hearing more from you in the future,

Sparks

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

I have an idea for a useful block which is "hide []" which lets you hide a certain thing(s) depending on which blocks you could put in the gap. You could also have "hide all" which hides every sprite. you could also have "<Sprite 1\/ is hidden/showing)>". smile  hope you add these blocks  wink

Owetre18, If you want all of you blocks to be added. Please post them separably, with both the block and the scripts.
P.S. I'm talking about this and this.

downloading a Panther block

Download the block
or follow the tutorial:

To download a Panther block from the library, follow these steps:

Open Panther and go to the variables tab. Scroll down and select "make a block". A popup box will appear asking for the block name. paste in this code:

Code:

download block $Number$ from block library

http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/6205/78060984.png

Click OK. A new window will appear with several boxes in it. The top one has the text you just entered. choose a colour from the colour swatch in the top right corner, and copy this code into the large box:

Code:

|maker link t2 t3 t4|
link_'http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6273449/', t1 asString, '.txt'.
maker_self readLine: 1 FromUrl: link.
t1_self readLine: 2 FromUrl: link.
t2_self readLine: 3 FromUrl: link.
t4_self readLine: 4 FromUrl: link.
t4_self stringAsColor: t4.
t3_self readLine: 5 FromUrl: link.

createdBlocks at: t1 put: {t1. t1. '-'. ''. self class blockColorFor: 'custom'}.createdBlocks at: t1 put: {t1. t1. t2. t3. t4}.(t4 _ self ownerThatIsA: ScratchFrameMorph) ifNotNil: [t4 viewerPane categoryChanged: 'variables'].

self showInformDialog: 'sucess!' withText: 'The block has been added to your variables tab.', '
', 'The "', t1, '" block', '
', ' was shared by ', maker

so it looks like this:
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/1879/87130624.png

Click Ok and you should find a new block in the variables tab at the bottom that looks like this:
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/7799/48678810.gif

Once you have this block, you can browse the Panther section of the block library for a block you want, and then enter the "block number" next to it into your download block. Double click the block to make it work and the new block will be added to the variables tab along with the rest. Click here to start browsing Panther blocks.

Yes. There is a small slot when making a panther block in the top right. I [think] you type R for Reporters, B for Booleans, and C for C Loops. Hope this helps!  smile

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

SSMMB is correct! The small box next to the colour picker that has a "-" in it in this image:
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/1879/87130624.png
can be changed to "r" or "b" to make reporters or booleans respectively. g will give you a colour block and c will give you a c loop block though due to a glitch c loop custom blocks do not work  hmm

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

You could have posted this somewhere else... We can use it as a backup if we somehow lose the other library data, or some other reason we don't realise until we think oh if only we still had the old library!
