Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

I updated the BYOB Block Library project with the new blocks, as well as updating the looks (of the project) by making "for this sprite only" blocks to mark the start of each category (e.g. a "Motion blocks" block, a "Looks blocks" block, etc.) and making extra-long comments for dividers.

Yawn.

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

has anyone else noticed that a) a lot of people have submitted "negative of (n)" blocks, and b) there are lots of ways to do it?!

here are the one's I can think of:
^ '-', t1 asString
^ t1*-1
t1_t1*-1. ^t1

So what I'm saying is, should I post the block as " a combined effort"or "shared by pretty much everyone at some point" and which of the above (or other) is the most efficient and should be used as the code?

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

Pi = 3.141592 Those are the digits I know. More digitts looked up:  3.14159265 Hey! I can make a (Pi) block!

Blockspec:

('pi' #r #getPi)
OR you can use:
('π' #r #getPi)

Code:

getPi
^ 3.14159265

There are more digits. Just don't use too many.

Code:

There's an explaination under the Panther section of this thread, but I'll explain here too  smile

1) download Panther... funny how you need it to make Panther blocks...

2) open Panther... again crucially important  wink

3) go to the "variables" tab.

4) scroll down to the bottom and click the "make a block" button.

5) a text box will appear asking you what the block should be called. if you got to this post you should see a "open camera window" block with some code underneath. Copy the the text in the box marked Box 1: and type it into the text box in the Panther window (in this case "open camera window).

6) a new box should appear with "open camera window" written in the long box at the top, there's a small square text area to the right that says "-" in it. This means that the block will be a stack block (the -, r or b in the space marked Box 2: will tell you what to put in there. in this case, leave it as "-".

7) In the top right of the window there is a little coloured square. You can click on this to choose the colour of your block.

8) the rest of the window is taken up by a large text box. This is where the code that makes the block work goes. Copy the code under the space marked Box 3: into this and then click OK. The block you just made will now appear at the bottom of the varaibles tab. Drag it out and run it. The camera window for your webcam should open. (I just realised you might not have a wecam, but this applies for all the blocks in the Panther section of this library).

Hope that helps  smile

What exactly is that block supposed to do? I don't get what the comments are trying to convey either.

BTW, you should make an image for the List category, too.

Also, should your "make a line from ..." block make the sprite go back to its original position after drawing a line, and make the pen go back up?

Oh, I have a couple new, handy BYOB blocks, too:

good points there meowmeow55, If I used that block I would want the sprite that drew it to return to it's original position with it's pen up as if it hadn't drawn the line (though what if the pen was already down before the line was drawn?)

I've added those new blocks, however, how did you get the <= and => symbols? I tried the supposedly correct alt codes 242 and 243 but got ‗ and ¾ for some reason...
