Right click (PC) or command click (mac) on the variable, and then choose slider. If you right/command click it again, you will see max and min. Click that to set it.

Okay, back on topic. Yeah, like other people said, either right click (Windows AND Mac) on the variable or double click, then you can set the minimum value and maximum value of the slider by right clicking on it while it's in slider mode, then clicking 'set slider min and max.'

People just say control click because it's the default setting, and the average user won't change it.
