Everyone knows the Shift-press R key on the scratch program so two people can play. But it is insanely complex. There should be a set of blocks that allow for online play whilst building a project. Obviously I don't understand how scratch works, so I can't comment on how difficult building something like that would be, but it would add an excellent dimension to an already great program. Please post comments if you agree, or disagree.

There are blocks for this in the "sensing" section that are variables in the other connected project as a sensor value.

Yep, it's been suggested a lot before. We actually at one point had something called "NetScratch," which was never actually officially released, or even announced. It's not being worked on anymore. But it's probably just too complex a concept for newer Scratchers to pick up on and probably can never be simplified enough to a Scratch-level thinking.
For now, you'll just have to use Mesh, which isn't all that complex if you look in Jonathanpb's post here, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about it.

That's NetScratch 1.0.1. I beat juststickman to the punch
Online blocks would be nice. I hear they're making them in Scratch 2.0, though.
